Fast PC, runs super slow! HELP!!! [Archive] - ForumsHQ

I have a super fast computer, with some awesome hardware. But it seems to run games pretty slow. I have no programs loading on startup ect ect. I ran 3Dmark03, and some of the results are pathetic...3 of the games it tested had framrates of 16-18. Any ideas on how to speed this up? Video is running 4x AA and 8x anisotropic at 1024x768 resolution. Heres what im running,



Motherboard: Soyo Dragon2 Platinum

CPU: Pentium 4, 3.0ghz, 800fsb

Video: Nvidia GeforceFX5900 Ultra 256mb

Sound: Audigy2 Platinum EX

Hard Drives: 120gig 7200rpm Master, 60gb 7200rpm Slave

Memory: 1gig

I would, but from the main board page, but from the main page, (mmb.forumshq.com) there is no "hardware" "General PC questions" or "general" section to be found. I have clicked every catagory on that page, and even checked all subcatagorys. Im not sure if its just invisible to me for some reason or what. THanks

I dont know anything about Video Cards since I don't play games, but what OS and do you have the latest drivers?

First: Update your Detonator Drivers



Second: Click Start>Run> and run the command "services.msc" minus the quotation marks. And check for any unneeded services and disable them.



Third: Check in your BIOS and make sure your AGP Apeture size is set to HALF what you have in system memory or as close as possible.



Fourth: Also what can help ALOT (but can also be dangerous) is to disable ACPI if your running Windows 2000 or WindowsXP.
