Starting one week from today (Monday November 10th) MajorMUD on the Bluehard BBS (formerly TSCNET Online Exec) will be totally reset. Our realm has not been reset since 1997!
We are currently running 1.11n with mods 1-9 and the plus pack. The BBS is sitting on an underutilized dual DS3 (T3) network, so speed is never an issue. Following the reset, the bbs will be totally free for the first 3 months. Following that it will be $5/month for 2 chars with sys goto's and sys map included.

I'm the new owner. I spent almost $2000 on purchasing the system. After that there are colo and bandwidth charges. We're on a reliable connection, not a dsl or cable modem line. I didn't buy the system with the idea it would make me rich... I'm no fool, and I've been in the "bbs scene" since around 1990. I bought the board for kicks. I'm not out to make tons of money off of it, but I don't think it's too much to ask to have it be able to pay for itself though. No?

Your BBS, your porogative, however, you probably are fishing in the wrong water hole. MMB is probably the last place you would want to advertise a pay board, but hey good luck with that.

One of my users suggested that I post here, so I did. The bbs will be free for at least 3 months, and there will be contests and such for free time beyond that.
I understand where you're coming from that free is better than paying. And generally speaking I'd agree with you. I guess if someone can't afford a few dollars a month for a hobby, they shouldn't be playing though. I mean I spend more in one day for lunch than what it would cost to keep 2 chars on my bbs for an entire month.
Also, when you look at most free boards (note I said most, not all) they are stolen, often hacked, and usually on someones home connection. We are fully legit, and on a dual ds3 network. You don't have to worry about us going down at any time and losing months of work.
All a matter of personal preference I suppose. As I said in my last post, I'm out to make money off of this board, that isn't why I bought it. I'd like for it to pay for itself on a monthly basis if at all possible and beyond that I'm happy -- that's it.
Either way, feel free to check it out before or after the reset (11/10/03)...

Grin Haze...let the man advertise, we welcome legit BBS's to advertise here too, hehe. Some of the people who visit here like to play legit, they just play hexed because legit gets to be so boring..hehe.
And Disciple - doubt I'll play because I'm not too big a fan of legit, however just out of curiosity..is there a deal out of paying for a year? Like $5/Month, $50-55 for a year? Things like that..I just know a few legit BBS's do things like that, so thought I'd ask for anyone interested.
