Mapping Suggestion [Archive] - ForumsHQ

Post by Speed »

I'll try to make this as clear as possible. When I create a map, I do lairs all at once. I think everyone does, it just seems the best way to do it. Now, is there a way to turn on an option (adding a flag, whatnot), so that when I click a room on the map, it will adjust that room's settings to the settings I have checked in the mass-room editor?

I don't wanna edit a block of rooms massively, I want to edit room 1, 4, 12, 15, 20, etc... (not literally). This way, I can just click on the room and that will apply my changes to that room, and that room alone. Then, I can click on the next one, etc... It would be great to have the mass-room-editor, or something just like it, in order to add these changes.

This is using the big graphical map.

i usually make my whole map first and then do the custom changes to each room. to assign the lairs, i pull up the map in the graphical view and click on the room (which brings the room editor to focus) and then switch it to lair and monster group then click the next room that i want to be a lair and repeat.

what i usually do if i have to do like 3 or 4 changes (like you do with lairs with the min/max index, room type, monster type, max regen, control room, etc) to a bunch of scattered room numbers is do it through the mass room editor (MRE). i would just set the range to "map 1, room 1 to 1" (single room) and then change the room number for each room i want to apply the settings to. so in your case i'd change the room 1 to 1 next to 4 to 4 and then 12 to 12, etc. i could make a checkbox on the MRE for "single room only" and make it easier to go through a bunch of rooms with less clicking/keystrokes.

nod, I used the mass room editor to edit all of my regens and control rooms in groups. Now all I have to do is click room, change to lair, click next room... so I found a quicker way of doing it than before I posted. The only problem I've got with the MRE is the fact that it closes my map and everything else when I click go.

It's cool now that I did the MRE and changed my indexes and stuff, takes less than a second or so to change to a lair. The single room MRE is something I'll try shortly, just gotta gather my room numbers and make sure I don't overwrite anything I need. Thanks syn.

I'm just switching jobs soon so I'm trying to get this area popped out very very shortly :)

nod, it's kinda necessary though. if you had a room up in the regular room editor and then used the MRE to change it, and then switched to a new room in the room editor, it would cancel your MRE changes for that room. to get around that i would have to tell the form to save before hand, run the MRE, and then tell it to repull it's current record afterward. i'll see if i can do that for the editors to make them not close down.

It's not a big deal that it closes, cause I only usually use it on large blocks of rooms. That's just why it wasn't necessary to do on single rooms. I need to have my map next to me in order to know which rooms to edit. Unless of course you want to change it :)
