The Moller SkyCar
Re: The Moller SkyCar
I will always have a hard time believing these things, simply because it would absolutely destroy the airline business. I don't think anything of this nature will be publically available until I'm dead or close to it.
Re: The Moller SkyCar
I dont know the airlines have been dying for many years, plus they allready got a mini helicopter, that you can buy for under 25k that you can park in a normal parking pace for a car.
I think we will be in the air soon.....but you will still need airlines for oversea trips...

You seen it? I haven't. The main reason I have a hard time grasping shit like this is that there are no current laws and rules for this. If there was a damn flying car that could go 375mph without a problem, crime would run rampent. Pick up one of those cars and you're fuckin outta here. There needs to be laws, and cops patrolling IN those cars, in order for it to be realized. It's going to take the government many, many years to catch up.

I own a personal gyro-copter, powered parachutte and a BD5-J x-perimental Jet Aircraft 350+ mph, I've been a certified x-perimental pilot since I was 16, I have my private pilots licence and my Ultralight licence, and I'm about to write my test for a commercial licence. When I started my tests for my Commercial licence 3 years ago, Air Canada wasn't introuble, now that I'm that much closer I'm looking at it as Why the fuck have I bothered, the industry in Canada is going to hell as fast as possible. I'm almost $65,000 in debt from just my schooling, which I probably wont have a hope in hell of ever repaying, as my current job only pays less than $2000 p/month (after taxes).
Personally I can't see that happening in my lifetime, Speed is right criminals would get away scott-free, alot more space to shake a tail in the air, than on the road, also a hell of alot easier you can lose anyone in a thick enough cloud layer, and if your carrying oxygen, you can go alot higher, and those that aint carrying can't.
Here is a link for the BD5 aircraft, which is both turbo-prop & Jet aircraft :)

Re: The Moller SkyCar
People can't drive saftely with what they got. If either of these projects became mainstream I would imagine the death toll would rise dramitcally. Imagine a drunk driver crashing his air car into high rise tower.
Re: The Moller SkyCar
Man I'd love one of those. I think its obvious that not everyone would be given a license to fly one. Maybe start out with ppl that have private pilots licenses or really good driving records. Flying cars could be made to work, I agree it will take some time to really happen tho. Hehehe, personal jetpacks would still be cooler tho, and they would be much less hazardous to the high rises since some 200lb guy and a jet pack aren't gonna do much damage to a brick wall :)
