i was just thinking about diablo and the town portal scrolls that it had and thought it would be a good alternative to sys gotos. it doesn't eliminate the pvp issues with it, but it still makes it so you can only have so many at time (restricted by the weight of the scroll however you wish) and also so that you can sort of limit how many are available. you could make a few monsters drop them or sell them at a shop at like 10 plat a piece.
attached is a db export for a scroll of town portal setup. it uses 3 records, all #10000. they are an item (the scroll), a spell (what teleports you), and a message (what you see when you use it). it teleports you to the halls of the dead.
as i said, you could change the weight of the scroll to limit how many one could theoreticly carry. you could also change the map/room of the spell and then name of the scroll (and the message too) and then have it teleport them to any other room you'd like. i even thought you could go as far as to make "gang home base scrolls" for each color. you could make the vault into a shop the sells them and restocks them, and the it'd be up the the gang leader (and who has an ornate key) to distribute them. you wouldn't make it teleport you inside the house, but the first room outside. that way it isn't really a big deal if other ppl get them.
shrug, i just think it'd be a neat addition to a realm.

that would be cool, i think it would be nice to make them somewhat like the obsidian obelisk teleport tho. random chance of putting you anywhere. that way you could theoretically use it in pvp, but you never know, you take the risk of landing in say the aged earth dragons room or something.

I like the town portal idea, basically 1 scroll for each town, but it would suck if it put you right in hod, since that is the ONLY sys in the game that is combat protected, it might be better off plopping you right in town square.

Nod.. I was thinking town square would be a better idea. Thanks for making that Syntax. We can now use that as a template for our own uses. :)

I remember on some bbs (pretty sure it was notorious... the one with all the diff mage classes) priests had a party teleport spell, but before it worked, the priest was stunned for like 2 minutes (a very long time i thought) but something like that, a 10 rnd stun before the teleport takes affect at like say 100 mana, would be only useful when with a priest or when far away not in pvp or danger, the difficulty was really high too so it failed a good 40%
