- Ive noticed the property "BsMaxDmg" dosnt add EXACTLY the numeral you are adding. I tested a weapon with +500 bs damage, and I bs'ed for 2000+... What is the ratio for the BsMaxDmg ability, and are there any other abilities that have a "range" like that one.. Is +MaxDmg ability also going to be undefined like that? When I say I want +3 max dmg, that Means I WANT +3.. Not a value from +3-6 or whatever. Info would help.
- I optimized my BBS for btrieve failure.. I went into my RegEdit after looking over the tutorial a 2nd time, and I noticed the patch that BlackHaze had given me is in a slightly different directory than the one you posted in your walkthrough (Syntax?) ... That would probably make a difference eh? The "Settings" folder (With all the modified options) Is a SubFolder of 'Version 6.15" rather than a SubFolder of 'MicroKernel Interface' ... What should I do to move and fix it? I am still having troubles.. It only happens when im at the keys and editing, but I will get Btrieve failures on my wccspell file, or my wccmap file.. (I am not editing online FYI, in a MudEdit dir.)
- I know this isnt really NMR related.. But my ISP will randomly drop all of my users until I reboot. It takes a reset or a power-cycle of the modem for my LAN to re-init.. This is getting REALLY annoying, and it only seems to happen when im at the keys, editing in NMR, or doing some other modifications that give my system somewhat of a push. Could it have anything to do with MY settings, and not just my ISP being stupid? (It could possibly be probing for servers.)
- Spell 310 - Negate Magic. Its the spell that wears off magic outside the fallen angel room. I am designing an "Anti-Magic" area like the cave from FF2. I re-created the negate magic spell, and added the ability "Magebind" and "KaiBind" to it. The spell will still only follow the first ability cast on it? As in it will negate magic, but do nothing else. Is there a way I can make a room spell cast multiple effects like that? I have made a "Halls of Restoration" and have added a room spell ability which adds HP/Mana Regen, I am just beta testing it right now... But I can not get that room spell to work either.
- If there is an "AlterCP" ability in the ability editor, Is there also a similiar ability in the textblocks? So an NPC can simply -CPs and giveitem: ?? Im a TxtBlk novice, Just curious.
- Undead Values. Ive tried and tried to make an Undead only area spell. I was told that the Undead Values could control this factor. Also, If I want to make it so that my higher level undead mobs were immune to certain undead spells, Could I alter the undead value to modify this? I know I can probably just use the Magic level or SpellImmu.. Not sure exactly how I would do it though.
I think that is all for now! Cya

Few Quick Questions.

and which one of those was "a quick question" ? :)

no clue on this one off the top of my head.

i'm a little tired and reading that didn't comprehend perfectly, but what i think you said is right. i didn't write any tutorial, i just posted a reg file ppl could import. i double checked the file and it does go to the right path (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Btrieve Technologies\Microkernel Workstation Engine\Version 6.15\Settings). post with file --> http://mmb.forumshq.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4075

what kind of router do you have? i dont like those linksys routers with bbs's (i love them otherwise). i personally dont think they can handle all the telnet traffic. i used to have all sorts of lag and telnet issues with one of those and then i learned cisco routers and man did that make a difference (little on the pricey side though ;)).

a lot of abilities only work on certain records. kaibind and magebind most likely only work on classes/races and/or items.

i dont think anyone has been able to get the altercp ability to work yet (as dxpac said in your other thread (http://mmb.forumshq.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5524)). the easiest way to look for commands in textblocks is just to use the find button and search for them. i searched for "cp " to hopefully find like a "takecp 4" or "addcp 5" but got nothin.

i dont know too much about this topic either. i tried to look some stuff up but couldn't find any undead settings or abilities based on the level of the monster. the only things i saw were a few abilities: "NonLiving" which makes spells with the "AffectsLiving" immue to them, and "AffectsUndead" which makes a spell only work on monsters flagged as undead. i didn't see anything that limits an item to hitting or not hitting undead tho.

re: +X Max BS damage.
Just guessing here, but sounds like X gets added to your weapon's max damage before the BS calculations. So if you have a 8-50 weapon with +10 BS damage, for the purposes of BS calculations, your weapon's max damage is 60.
By same logic, if a class has +30 max bs damage, then whatever weapon they use for backstabbing is gonna bs as if it had x+30 max damage.

Almost right.. in the formula the BS Max Damage modifier is added verbatim, while the max damage of the weapon is multiplied by 2. Other parts of the formula, affected by level and stealth, are taken into account, then if the player is racial stealth ONLY, the current value of the formula is multiplied by 0.75, then the value is multiplied by the players level + 100, then divided by 100. (Effectively increasing the damage on a percentage scale based on the players level.)
