Archer class.

:werd: I played an archer once. With this system it makes the damage almost the same at every level unless you have a lot of bows. There is no variety, the only variety is in the arrows. I think that this is a good way to make an archer. But just remember that you will need to make plenty of bows to accomidate(sp?) the higher levels. Archers are usually uber in the beginning then they flatline and the only thing to make them better is either a new bow or some +max damage stuff. But in order to get +max damage, you need to lose ac,crits, resist elementals..etc..etc.

Archers on mudrevo are basically like warriors, with less armor, and more damage. If you really go into it, every class basically flatlines as it gets to higher levels, if you can tell me one that doesnt, I'll retract my statement.

Each class has it's pro's and con's. Archers have the ability to backstab hard, with good accuracy. They are powerful at lower levels, but do peak out.. Just like alot of classes do. Each Class develops at different stages of its life, So i guess sitting here and pissing over when this should happen, and how this should be is kind of pointless. I do agree though, I didn't do a very thorough job of variety on the bows. Alot of them have level restrictions and the damage coordinates with that. I do need more variety within them and expect that in MudRev2.

As far as what Ldap said, Look up a few posts and I said the same thing :)

and Yes Rust, they do mimic a few classes. But, If you did them right and threw in enough variety (See Mudcentral forums Archer discussion thread) then I think it would fall in line with the other combatant class, but have it's own perks, as well as downfalls. I guess what im trying to say is try your hardest to make an Archer not Mimic a Warrior :)

Also, I think accuracy/damage should not be effected wheather the Archer is front/backrank. This could be a major advantage that an Archer could have over warrior. The lack of armour makes up for that fact that they can fight from the backranks.
