Whos into R/C cars??!

Post by Brunt »

I am just wondering...I wanna get into street/track racing.

I have been looking into kits and stuff..but isn't building the car half the fun??

Here is what I know I want..

1/8 OR 1/10 scale

AWD

.21 engine size :)

NITRO

I have a few ideas..get one of those tiny ECU things...

Put a servo on the rear wing, and tie that servo into the braking servo with the ECU, and have the rear wing raise as the brake is applied...to help slow down. Would that be legal? Think it would be worth its weight?

I want a good base. Good Chassy, that has lots of aftermarket parts.

I can do with a cheap engine/suspension and parts for now..I will eventually upgrade.

What about piping the exhaust to exit out the rear, and put 1-2 CO2 bottles in place of the exhaust pipe, to help get cleaner/colder air to the engine? Can you race the car w/o a pipe?

Are 2.7HP engines TOO much for a 1/10 or a 1/8th scale car?

Are titanium screws overated? I saw a titanium chassy!!

Should I get a 4 servo remote?

Please give me as much advice as you can....I will be making some purchases after my christmas money comes in :D

I used to be big into RC cars. I never raced, but I did dig up a dirt track in my back yard for me and my friends back when I lived up north. I built them and stuff, but this was when I was like 7. I really can't remember much about them, but now that you bring it up, I would really like to get in the hobby again. They are just so expensive. I got a mini rc car about an inch and a half long that I chase my dog around the house with. They are really freakin neat. Sorry that my post doesn't contain any relevant information, just lettin ya know that RC cars are sweet and I'll prolly be gettin back into them soon.

Yeah...they are exspensive.

A decent kit doesn't cost less then $200

Then ya gotta buy all the electronics

Then ya gotta buy the radio/remote

I would like to get a buggy/monster truck later on..but for now, I want speed!

They have gas/nitro powered cars that can do 60, 70 and 80MPH.

They have monster trucks that can do 40+mph. These all have 2-3 speed trannys too though.

I've got a single speed battery powered one from when I was a kid that tops at about 45mph. It's missing a spring and the receiver is fucked up, but I might repair that one soon.

I am in the process of making my own car... complete from welding my own aluminum chassis and will be running a .98 aircraft engine in it :D a buddy of mine is building a home made trasmission (1st, 2nd, Neutral, Reverse). Its pretty awesome looking so far and we are hopin to have it finished by the middle of next year....

the offroad R/C cars seem to be more fun, cuz all it takes is one time into the curb with one of those street racers... and yer gunna be crying... I've seen those things clocked at 60+mph..

Enjoy!

War Hawk...man, hook it up :)

I have a few ideas...All wheel steering, servo on the rear wing tied into the brakes, use CO2 to help get cleaner/colder air into the cylinder...

I really would like to have 2 street cars, 1 to drag and play with, then 1 to actually race with.
