StressTest BTs new realm and take part in a PVP contest! F-U-N! ;)

I know many people are waiting for BT's second MajorMUD realm to open. It is almost here. The following includes details about the Stress Testing we are doing for the next 3 weeks before the realm opens publicly. Also, during this time, we are going to run a PVP contest. EPs will regen very quickly and gangs will have a low max number of members. The gang at the end of the test with the most experience wins. Anyways, hope you guys will help me stress test.



Here's what's been happening lately.



BrainToys now operates 2 DMA(door) servers. BT_DMA runs 21 new and classic BBS games modules. EdenBBS_DMA is going to host *only* a MajorMUD2 module. This is a dos platform game. It runs on a new 2ghz server, and sports a mirrored ATA133 drive system.



All activation codes from various parties have been installed and deem'd valid. Everything works!



The one thing I haven't done yet is a "Go Live" scenario, and this is where you come in! Tuesday evening, we are going to open the doors for a short lived, fast paced game of mud. I would like to get at least 40 accounts going in the game. A few things on my list to test for include: network latency, the new hardware, BBS to DMA connection behavior, key/access permissions configuration, network load-balancing, clean-up times, mud (initialization) settings, and other misc. items.



Helping us beta testing will not cut your trial time short. In fact, new accounts will be put in a "Beta_Test" class, and later switched to a trial class come opening day. Keep in mind that you can't train to level 10 without membership. So if you feel you can't get a full bbs trial experience in the amount of time it takes for you to reach level 10, then my suggestion is to sign up ahead of time and StressTest with us for free.



This stress test period will be heavily PVP oriented. Why not? It is just gonna' reset anyway. EP regen will be quicker than default. Kill! Rend!



Rumor has it we might even offer a prize (free time) toward MUD2 to the winning gang. Details to be posted on BT.



The DMA server (all the games) will be offline until Monday afternoon. All games and DMA modules will be accessible then; except MajorMUD2, which will remain closed until 8 P.M. PST, Tuesday.



So log on BT and get yourself a BetaTest account. Also, I will be online and available all night if anyone has any questions.



Thanks again to everyone who has been so patient during development over the last few months. I'm doin' my best to make it all work perfectly! And of course, an extra thanks to those of you that help us stress test. Hopefully the PVP Gang Tournament thing will spice things up a little!

Maybe this would be a good learning experience for you, then? Who cares if you suck at it? A little exposure to pvp is good for you, unless you're going to hide on non-pvp boards forever. And why not? Its free !! ;)

Jewel, only way to play is pvp, if you get slaughtered so be it. How does one PVP, you walk or sneak upto someone and rip or attempt to rip a very large hole in them, until til death do they part (usually from thier eq ;)) Usually when I do pvp I prefer Warriors just for thier brute strength and lots of healing potions.



but If I'm gonna do a spell caster, I want a Delf Missi or a dwarf priest or for stealth either a ninja or a thief (just my personal prefs) But then I also suck at pvp.

How dumb can you be. They ask for a phone number!?!?!?!?!? WTF.. Yeah, let me give you that, NOT!!! I signed up and than they suspened it before i could even play. And than want me to call some LONG DISTANCE number to clear it up. I'm sure it's because i put my phone number as (why-number). And my address as 2323 Sex Lane. What a WASTE of time. Sorry im NOT giving some online board my REAL info. And anyone that would hasnt had a bad experience yet with that.

Look, the system is setup to autosuspend any account that provides obivously fake information, such as WHY FONE for a number. Even a fake one would be sufficient.



The only reason we ask a user for this information is for verification. What if I think your sharing your account with a user, so I page you and say "please tell me your phone # and addy you supplied when you signed up" and you can't remember what fake info you put, then there could be a problem.



I could care less what your number or address is.. it is just one of the best means of verification if an issue arrises.



IF you want to give me SOME/ANY phone number, we'd be happy to have you...



I unsuspended you.



Don't get all bent out of shape because we have some automated security measures.



And about that # it told you to call? Thats an ancient ansi which I just updated...
