AMD, they are much more overclock friendly and at a greatly reduced cost by comparison

Invis is right. AMD just makes a better product. AMD uses all sorts of architecture and instruction set ideas to make their chips faster at slow clock cycles, so a 2.1 ghz AMD is a hell of a lot faster than a 2.1 ghz Intel. They run hot, but all 2 gig plus chips will, regardless. Go with some kind of kt400 board. You'll find enough accurate, detailed, and easy to understand information on motherboards here to make you puke:

My personal preference is on AMD, from what I have seen when i was work activly as a Technician was reliability, I have seen too many burnt Intel PIII / PIV chips.



I have only ever seen 1 burnt AMD and that was user stupidity, this dipshit client I had tried to swap chips while the computer was on, He said he took the old chip out with a pair of pliers because it was hot. (uh no shit it was hot) And then he said when I put the new chip on he heard a pop and then everything just shut down on him.



I run an AMD at home, and I've never had a problem

yep AMD rules... i have 4 AMD machines (all 1ghz+) and have had very few problems. the one time i thought i friend a cpu it turned out to be the mobo... the last pentium i owned was a 486 :)

I still have an old Duron 1.2 and it is still chuggin away, it benches on Mad Onion at 1301 Mhz :)



I also have an XP 2800+ (need a new mobo & vid card tho) Last Intel chip I had was a 386 DX40 (ever seen a 386 over clocked)

well at least i got a general consensus (sp?) here on the overclockers forum they was to busy talking shit bout amd or intel wich ever they didn't have to give me a straight answer. but the rig i was thinking bout wa an intel system somthing like this (cause the money ain't a thing)

kingston pc3200 1 gig ram

450w powersupply

air cooled



i have seen lots of good overclocks with this similar setup of 3.2ghz and higher the common range is 3.2 - 3.4



what kinda amd setup will compare to this in speed?



cause that asus mb is one of the best out there for intel
