Hey everyone,
I am makin a few items in Nightmare. I have the latest version of nightmare available and also the latest majormud (M).
I was making some items and I added the Strength ability and I gave it a value of 10.
I did a compile and inserted it into the game and I put the item on but I did NOT get the +10 to strength. IF I did it did not show itself when I looked at my player stats.
Has anyone run into this problem or does someone know a way around it so it works? Any suggestions would be wonderful.
The other ability abilities do not work either IE charm intel etc..
thanks in advance.
Zan

give it the ability that the bard spell "MITE" gives

STR applies to shadow strength if im not mistaken. It wont show up.

some abilities only work when they are assiged to spells (and the same is true for items). to verify, try to find an item that gives +str. like was already said, the bard spell "song of might" gives +strength, but it's a spell. if there isn't one then it's probably spell specific. you could also see if your encumberance jumps up some when you put on the item.

Yeah..you could always give the item a "use" effect to cast a spell that's +10 str with unlimited uses..then the person could just create the spell and message/response in mega and they'd be all set.

It just seems strange though, The Indiana Jones Hat gives +10 to charm and you used to be able to see it. Now you cannot. I wonder if they changed something in M for it to not show up in the status

dunno about indy hat but syntax is right... the only way to alter a stat is in a spell... and keep in mind while the spell is active you cannot train... so dont go crazy on the duration
