naw it would work fine.... i did it before only i added new scrolls... the text block method is a better way to do it since theres another bug noone has mentioned... that is, for some reason new scrolls wont show (Too Powerful).... so it looks like you can read a scroll but its really too high a lvl...

Its been a while but ill try to explain further. I made a new class, Ill call it ClassA. I gave it bard-4. All of the original mage spells (including warlock/gypsys) I flagged them for the appropriate class so that only those class's could use it. Then My new class I made, Was able to use Illuminate and magic missile for some reason. They could buy it (it didnt say You cant use) but you couldnt actually read it. But, after I switched all the scrolls (mage) to mage/warlock/gypsy only, they could not actually use some of the ones that they were flagged for.

how did you "flag them" ? normally the scrolls themselves aren't flagged for any class. since the item type is scroll it looks at what the scroll's 'learnsp' ability is set to and then sees if the user is of the same mage type ("you can't use" if not) and then see's if the spells min lvl is greater then the users level ("too powerfull" if so). so really the only "flag" anywhere is just whatever magery type the spell is set to.

the way we were talking above is you could actually set the spells to whichever magery class you chose for the new class and then restrict the scrolls to the class via the class restrictions on the scrolls in the item editor.

the only thing i'm not sure about is how other classes would see the scrolls listed in the shops. like if you set them all to priest-3, i'm not sure if priest's would see the scrolls listed as "you can't use" since the scroll restricts them from using it.

Easiest way to make a new magic class is to either use mage/priest for casting stat, and then making all the spell shops have restricted by class entrances w/ scrolls being no-drop/give, poof on death. That way you can have 2 mage-3 classes w/ different names and different spells w/o them being able to share.
