Wow, you know, this guy can have some half decent ideas once in awhile, but this is REAL fucking far from them: http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/07/30/bush.gay.marriage/index.html
And what the hell is he thinking by saying this?
Uhg. I guess tolerance, acceptance, and equality lose again to the religious right. It makes me so happy to know the church dictates our country's domestic policy
Bush....what a fucking douche.

Re: Bush....what a fucking douche.
This country was founded on christian principles, so they've ALWAYS been inherent in the government. However, I don't agree that they should bar gay marriages. He's doing this because Vermont (?) is about to pass a law that says they can be married and every state has to recognize that under the full faith and credit clause of the 14th amendment.

This country wasn't founded on religious principals, it was based off of them. The founding fathers very specifically stated in the Constitution that they did not want church laws and practices to be push on the general public as law. After all, **that is why people came here in the first place**. The religious aspect that America is based on is morality in terms of legality. Which, I think, further pushes my point futher. But w/e.
As for why Bush is doing it, I don't feel that's a valid enough reason. The bigger question is why does he feel he needs to stop this from happening? He's not anti-Vermont, or anti-14th amendment, he's anti-homosexual union.
I understand the whole religious arguement, but gays aren't asking for *religious* marriage, they're asking for a legal equivalent so they can have the same basic rights and freedoms that we straight people do. And that's not at all too much to ask for. Why shouldn't gays be allowed to jointly file taxes? Why shouldn't they have spousal medical insurance rights? Why shouldn't they get a tax break if their partner has a child and the adults are filling taxes jointly?
These are the questions that bother me. You know, it doesn't matter if you're comfortable with homosexuality or not. There are people in our lives that are being treated as lessers because of sexual orientation. That, my friends, is bullshit.
(Reckless: if this came off as an attack to you, I promise it wasn't. I'm fuming right now, and I'm just venting :))
And if someone is reading this truely believing that gays are sinful and immoral and they're going to hell, try picking up and reading your "Good Book". It's not our job to pass judgement. As a matter of fact, God makes it very clear that we are *not* to judge each other, and that He Himself will judge each of us. So stop your fucking protests against gay rights. Hey, if you're right, they'll rot in hell and you can laugh at them then. If you're wrong, well, I'm pretty sure your oppression and hatred of your fellow man will put you somewhere you don't think you'll be going to.
And for the sociological arguments: Do you honestly think that a breach in the "sanctity of marriage" will bring a plague on our social system? I highly doubt that the small percentage of our population that will engage in gay marriage will throw off the entire concept of marriage...shit, it may even get people to remember that marriage is more about love than about procreation. Besides, do you honestly think gays are going to go straight if they can't get married gay? C'mon now...
Okay, sorry. That was entirely too long. But I just cannot stand blatent ignorant hatred and domination.
I'm straight. I can get married anytime I want to. And I'm this pissed off. Imagine those of us who have to actually face this.

My real friends? Doubtful. I tend not to associate with people who can't think logically for themselves. Or those without compassion. Or those who fear things they don't understand.
But I guess you wouldn't get that either, huh?
Besides, if you're going to try and defend the other side of an issue, you may want to try to present your argument with a little more intelligence and vigor than this.
Oh, and I'm sorry, what grade did you say you were in? I didn't catch it.

Re: Bush....what a fucking douche.
i don't need to formulate an argument; you're a poof sympathiser (or just a poof). =)
Re: Bush....what a fucking douche.
People live ace2 just piss me off for their blatant ignorance and intolerance. A completely closed mind and unwilling to see things other than how he was likely raised to think or told to think by his friends.
Apathy has also covered alot of what pisses me off about the same sex marriage issue. Intolerance and prejudice piss me off to the point of near-homicidal sometimes.

Re: Bush....what a fucking douche.
What of Sodom and Gomora? Pick up the good book and read why he sent flaming balls of fire to consume both of those cities, and why the wife of his servant turned to salt when she turned to look longingly back at the city they fled. Homosexuality is blantantly wrong, according to the bible, as is sodomy (comes from Sodom, imagine that?!?). There is no argument you can present that will make it any more right, in my mind anyhow. The closest thing I have to a father is gay, so don't get me wrong, I have nothing, personally, against homosexuals. But to say that there's nothing wrong with the idea is ludicrous. And why should we encourage something that is morally wrong, biblically wrong, and naturally wrong? By allowing gays and lesbians to marry legally, that's essentially what we're doing. Keep your business in the closet where it belongs, and everyone will be happy, as far as I'm concerned.
Re: Bush....what a fucking douche.
"Biblically wrong"? I find that hilarious. Do you realize how many things are technically "biblically wrong"? Your average person commits 50+ biblical sins and wrongdoings a day. For example, do you realize that believing in Jesus is "biblically wrong" according to the old testament? The bible is full of contradictions.
The bible isn't the law of this land. It's just an old book that SOME people find sacred. Not EVERYONE follows the bible.

I was referring to the above post, Evan, and your argument is entirely different. I didn't say I didn't sin, I was saying that yes, there are verses, stories, chapters, whatever in the bible saying that homosexuality *is* wrong. Sure, we aren't sposed to pass judgement, but God did, didn't he? If you read my post, the flaming balls of fire were pretty judgemental, no? Go read the old testament again, homie, cuz you're wrong there as well, as far as I've read. According to Jews, believing Jesus was the son of God is wrong, but that has nothing to do with the bible.
This is me, and I don't deny it. :afire: I got the nickname Dmon for a reason.
