If that happened at the Renaisance Festival, It would be called a riot.;)

nothing is more gratifing than walking into a renaissance fair wearing your own hand made armour w/ intricate designs and people wondering where it was purchased!! Then seeing the look on there face when you say it was hand made by yours truly... stainless is a wonderful metal to work with... just a bitch on the hands when making the rings, cutting them and then making the actual armour. Wish I had a digital camera to show you my work... If I could make them fast enough I would definately sell them!

Re: Sca
noddage, About how much in materials and time has it cost you to make that suit?
Re: Sca
well I made the tools for spinning the wire and cutting the rings. Material costs I have no idea... when I run outta wire I buy new wire. 50feet of 440 stainless wire costs me 25 bucks... and I don't even have a clue how many rings I have used... not a feaking clue. The aircraft aluminum that I will be working with in about 3 months is going to cost around 100 bucks a sheet (4' x 4') so that is going to get expensive quick. But first I gotta ship a 50lb anvil from my friends farm in Missouri.... Thats gotta cost a bundle... and I got a friend of mine making me a 10lb sledge hammer from tool steel as long as I make him stainless gauntlets (he's providing the stainless steel... thank god and he is thinking of chroming them for display purposes). So it should be nice once everything is in place and I can start working on it. I'll be one hell of a buff computer nerd after thats over with! :)
Re: Sca
lol.. hey Warhawk, we might be able to work something out. I'm planning on starting up the chainmail again, also going to be making jewelry out of the chain links, and I'll be opening up a booth at each of the events I go to. If we can figure out cheap shipping I could display and sell whatever wares you make. I also might be able to sell a bit to my Darksail mates. You can actually make quite a bundle on home-made armor, because of the care and craftsmanship that's obvious as compared to commercial crap that is sold at most Faires.. I'm working on a chainmail bikini for my girl right now.. Should be interesting when it's done... :hump:
