he said navy not army or marines.. dude you will be stuck on a boat for 3-6 months at a time just about everytime you go out. You'll learn fast how to sleep at every moment you have to yourself because you wont get much any other way. You will be considered property of the US government. You will get screwed over on your paychecks constantly. You will be treated like a piece of shit most of the time, but hey. Free travel. You may get to visit a new country for like a day here and there.

true, true. my friends are all marines.

I know a LOT of people in the navy and people who were in the the navy. I live in bremerton, wa. Home of PSNS naval station home of the Carl Vinson to name one out of many ships home ported here. Not 1 person i know, (which is a serious amount) enjoy navy life. Everyone gets sick of it shortly after starting, and mainly for all the reasons i mentioned above.

Ok here is what I have found out in the last couple of days. I would more than likely be able to go thru OCS right after basic cuz I am in college. I would be dealing with computers which is a big plus, and increase in money.

One thing you wont have to worry about in the Navy is killing people. What you'll get going through ocs and in a 4-6 year term are good people managment skills which'll get you better pay and better jobs in the private sector. Its not easy, and as you can see, I lot of people aren't able to get past the whole "gee, this sucks. I want to go home and smoke weed" aspect of any military service, but if you think you can stand months at a time on a ship with 12 and sometimes 24 hour shifts and the like, go for it. just make sure you know what you're doing before you get in--make the recruiting officer put it down in writting.

You have to have a college degree to go through OCS and not an AA either, a full Bachelor's degree (4 years). If you get your Bachelor's and go through OCS, it's a lot better. More pay, more perks.

What surprises me is that no one has talked about the mansex issue yet. I mean, you've really got to love corn to make it on a ship with maybe 3-4 woman for 6 months and only aidsy filthy whores at the ports.

and get started memorizing this

Where can you find pleasure, search the world for treasure, learn science, technology?

Where can you begin to make your dreams all come true on the land or on the sea?

Where can you learn to fly, play in sports or skindive, study oceanography?

Sign up for the big band or sit in the grand stand when your team and others meet.

(Chorus:)

In the Navy, yes, you can sail the seven seas.

In the Navy, yes, you can put your mind at ease.

In the Navy, come on now people, make a stand.

In the Navy, can't you see we need a hand.

In the Navy, come on, protect the motherland.

In the Navy, come on and join your fellow, man.

In the Navy, come on, people, and make a stand.

In the Navy, in the Navy.

They want you! They want you! They want you as a new recruit!

If you like adventure don't you wait to enter the recruiting office fast.

Don't you hesitate, there is no need to wait; they're signing up new seamen fast.

Maybe you are too young to join up today but don't you worry 'bout the thing

for I'm sure there will be always the good Navy protecting the land and sea.

(Repeat Chorus)

They want you! They want you! They want you as a new recruit!

They want you! They want you! They want you as a new recruit!

..But..but..but I'm afraid of water!

..hey..hey..look, men...

I get seasick even watching it on the TV!

They want You! - Oh my goodness!

They want you! - What am I gonna do in a submarine?

They want you! They want you!

In the Navy.

In the Navy... (fade out)
