Problems, please help. [Archive] - ForumsHQ

Hey, I don't know how much people look here to try to help solve problems, but here is mine.

Classes:

When I add classes or change original classes and make an update file and transfer it to the BBS folder nothing happens. So, in response, I shut down the BBS and copy the CLASS and (RACE) files over to make it manually update. When I boot the BBS shortly after its a corrupt database error and then it takes a while as it tries to "fix" and when I connect to the BBS you can't enter MajorMUD due to a 'severe database error.'

This happens whenever I even slightly touch the classes (EXP, add another, change a name, etc)

Races:

Same as above

Please help if you can, I'm doing all this with a Windows 2000 Professional computer and 1.3 of Nightmare Redux.

long answer: when majormud says it's found corruption and it's attempting to fix, what it's doing is running the update file to try and fix some "errors" it found. when majormud loads it checks a few aspects of a few different items/monsters/etc to see that they haven't been 'edited.' if they have, it tries to go through the update file to fix them ... but since you created your own it fails.

short answer: you need to do something to your dll to stop it from checking those things.

I am running version j, but I will upgrade to m. I think it may be the problem that my DLL is not enhanced for added classes/races, I'm not sure, I'll try it after upgrading to m.

possibly (probably) that was the problem with the i dll. it was actually for the most part an H dll that just had it changed to i.
