sounds alot like me.

*although after reading syntax's story on learning to program just to make nightmare, i am slowly trying to teach myself at least the basics. i have delphi 7 enterprise, and visual studio 6 that i am playing with most. i also have c++ and a couple of others, but mostly mess with the VB and delphi.

its not so much speed as it is RAM from the way mine runs. im only on a 650Mhz 20 gig with 256 DDR ram. and they seem to run pretty good for me.

I learned how to program on a 386 16 MHz with 32MB of RAM. =) Then we really went for the mustard and bought an 80387 math co-processor to stick with it. ;)

Up until 3 years ago I was using a Pentium 166 for development (64 MB EDO RAM), then when I got a good job, I upgraded to a Celeron 500 MHz with 128MB PC133 on my second paycheck (using parts from my now old P166 to round out the system, including a crap-ass video card that didn't do much for my gaming).

Nowadays I have a dual processor Pentium III 800 with 1024 MB PC133 and refuse to upgrade until Intel starts offering dual processor capable consume CPU's and not just Xeons. =)

As far as your system goes and being able to program, anything faster than a 233 MHz system should be fine. A 400 MHz system should be about average for software development. The newer Visual Studios (anything past VS6) are a little more needy as far as horsepower goes, but Delphi and the other Borland compilers are fine on a system that "slow". =)

agreed ... i just wish i would see more of this type stuff from him and other ppl

Well, the way I came across this was that I couldn't figure out how it was chests were determining how much cash to give out. Originally I thought it was something in the text blocks but I never bothered to check-- until recently. Then I scratched my head, because the text block only showed a message saying you got some coinage, but never actually referenced another block to give out the cash or to cash a spell that somehow would trigger cash to be given. Then I went searching in the only logical place that was left, the items database.

If someone has something like that that's an "unknown" that must exist someplace because MMUD probably doesn't do it on it's own internally, I'd be happy to try and explore the databases in a hex editor to try and determine what's what.

So, anyone have anything that they've seen in-game but have been unable to reproduce using NMR? E.G. - like how chest items gave cash when opened but you had no way in NMR to set the amount of cash given out, and the text blocks that already existed lacked any method of giving cash out? (IOW, the steps that lead to my search that lead to finding the information posted in this thread.) Give me something to look for damnit. =) (And if someone does respond, be sure to provide an in-game example of an item/spell/whatever that does what you want to do, but can't duplicate (beyond copying the record and pasting it into a new record)).
