WGMan and WinXP Pro
Re: WGMan and WinXP Pro
Ok, i've done Attrib -r and attrib -h and for some reason the directory goes back to Read only... what the hell is my n00b ass doing wrong?
Re: WGMan and WinXP Pro
Correction, the WHOLE C: drive is read only... what do i do to fix this... seeing as im the admin on the computer and have all access... this is starting to bug me, because i feel this is the cause of my problems
Re: WGMan and WinXP Pro
Your whole C drive can't read only, -nothing- would work properly. You wouldn't even be able to load swap files.
If you, or someone else, burnt your copy of WG onto a cd, chances are they didn't uncheck the read-only box. I did that to my copy, so the only copy I have on CD comes out as read-only.
Go to dos, go to your WG dir, type just 'attrib' and paste your output onto here.

Re: WGMan and WinXP Pro
"attrib -r /s" from a dos prompt at "C:\" would remove the read only attribute through the whole drive. though, i agree with speed. it's very very odd that your whole drive could be marked read only and something else must be wrong.

Re: WGMan and WinXP Pro
I still think he should paste his WG dirs attributes so that we can look at it and see if it really is read-only.
Re: WGMan and WinXP Pro
would a swap file count as a hidden file?

usually it is ... if it has a +H attribute, then it would be hidden. also most systems hide files that are have the +S (system) attribute too, unless you turn that off.

That can't be your WG directory. What the hell is that? I've never seen it. Do you have another directory including Worldgroup, not your WGMAN? Your WGman should be in your worldgroup directory.

Re: WGMan and WinXP Pro
also, that text doesn't show any of your files marked as read only. they should have an "R" flag next to them if they were.
