Or better yet!!
Why care about mud. Why waste your time making a program or wasting your money playing it

Why waste your time making a program
Doing things you enjoy is not a waste by any means.
wasting your money playing it
Who pays for mud?

Re: My MajorMUD terminal
This program won't blow mega out of the water..it will be far more complex, yes..and possibly even far better..but the fact that it only works for linux puts it down the shitter...not many mudders use linux, 10% of the mudding population will get this prog while the other 90% will still use mega..therefore, mega will still be predominantly used..and if you think the 90% will switch to linux just for this prog..heh..yer crazy.
The prog would get better use if it could be converted..heh.

Re: My MajorMUD terminal
nod make it for windows and have a linux version so everyone can use it
Re: My MajorMUD terminal
heh making it for linux is all good, from what i hear linux is awesome and far better than windows...windows is more widely used, and more people know how to use it better, so that's what they use..if the prog could be converted from linux to windows w/o problems it'd be all good, but (and i didnt back track to be 100% sure) i think they said it either couldn't be done or would be EXTREMELY hard...i dunno..going to shake a tower....
Re: My MajorMUD terminal
Gotta find someone to port shit ta windows so we can replace megamud.... Cause i for one would jump ship in a second if something better came out

Re: My MajorMUD terminal
Dark, I do not see working on my program as a waste of time. It is something that I enjoy immensely, and I have learned a lot by doing it.
I created this program for only one reason. To provide myself with a MajorMUD terminal on my favorite platform. Not as something 'for the masses' or to blow away MegaMud. If only a few people ever use it, that is fine by me.
Platnum, a Windows port would basically require re-writing it from scratch. I do not use Windows at home so I have no real desire to do so.
Someone else is going to have to take the initiative on a replacing MegaMud.

FreeBSD is NOT linux. i hate it when people compare the two. FreeBSD is much faster, more secure and more versatile then ANY linux distribution.
As far as beta testing, let me know. I primarily run FreeBSD, but I have a couple linux boxes that i can try on and can have other people beta test the program through a vnc session. PM or hit me up on aim (VoMandor). I am also helping out someone else on a console version of megamud. Help support the open source! wute!;)

Come on people, get a copy og VMWare and install your favorite flavor of linux and try it out on there :D
vmware is slow. If you're going to try and run linux under windows, your best bet is just install cygwin.
http://www.cygwin.com/
That or Phat linux, or just get another machine (like a 486 or p133) and install linux on it. It will run fine.
