Trying to figure out a solution [Archive] - ForumsHQ

Hey, I just purchased wg and majormud about a day or 2 ago. I've got it all setup and stuff and mud is working and shit, but no one can connect to me. I tried setting up a dynamic ip on a website and everything, but no one can connnect. I put all the stuff in wg wizard like my ip address, domain name and host name. I still come up without anyone being able to connect. I have 2 ips for some reason, but when i do a ip addy check in dos it gives me the first ip so Im using that. I run off of windows xp, and I have a cable modem. I am on a router from the main modem in another room, so maybe that has something to do with it? I tried using that ip, but wg gave me an error and said it didnt recognize the ip. I know this is a lot of shit, but I dont know what im doing wrong. Maybe I even didnt put something in WG, I'm new to this so I dunno. Any feedback would be appriciated. My AIM name is lyki69 if it will be a lengthy process, thanks in advance.

The IP you are using doesn't happen to be 192.168.0.1 or something that looks similar, is it?

Yeah, it is 198 something. And the kind of router is a wireless usb network adapter..and how can I check the firewall? sorry im not good with computers.

192.168.0.1 is a private address assigned to your home network. Go to http://whatismyip.com to get your real IP address. This MAY work on your router, I'm not sure, go to http://192.168.1.1 - It should ask you for a username/password. Hit "Administrator" for name and "Admin" or "Administrator" for password. This is for linksys routers, so I'm not sure if it works for you. You go to the Advanced option, then to Forwarding, then UPnP forwarding. Reminder, this is for a linksys router and I'm not sure if it will work for you. From that screen, you need to forward port 23 to the 192.168 # you were given by dos.



If that doesn't work, but you can still log into your router, attempt to find a port forwarding screen. If you can't log into your router, read your documentation on port forwarding.

To make my last post shorter, consult your router documentation on port forwarding, and forward port 23 to the 192.168 number. Go to http://whatismyip.com and put that IP into WG. There, easy.

192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 are both usually reserved for the router. all of the routers usually use 192.168.1.1 except for dlink is the only one that i know of that uses 192.168.0.1
