Ok proof golfs and all VWs blow...
One of many arrogant VW drivers in my area challenged me to a quarter mile and twisty 1.3 mile race.
His stats..
Golf 2.0 GTI
My stats
Ford Focus Sedan SE 2.0
Beat him in both with my little shitty car. Golfs also have wierd shifters that are different from every other car in the world. If you ever have to fix a VW by youself, plan on moving other items out of the way before you can get to the source of the problem.
Example...
WE all know that old VW bug with the engine in the back. Lets say your battery fried out and you have to replace it. Guess what: you have to remove the rear bumper to even reach the battery.
German engineers went wrong with VWs. I'll admit Benz has got their s**t together and so does BMW. Only 2 things I give VW credit for making are the Corrado (which is the only good looking VW i've ever seen made) and Ferdinand Porshe (founder of VW) making that wonderful bug a floating car in case your drunk ass runs into a lake.:finger1:

Obviously there is no point in discussing the matter. You can not compare one version of a golf to one version of another car. I didn't say specifically the Golf 2.0 GTI was bad ass. I said Golfs were bad ass. Go look at the specs of a TDI 1.9 Turbo. Or a GTI 1.8 Turbo. Throw some tiptronic shifting, or the VR6/manual gearbox, and you've got a powerhouse.

Speed, I've beaten them all. I just used that example cuz it was someone I knew. Tectronic, shmecktronic, thats a shifter for pussies. I use a real american 5-speed. Plus regardless, I have better struts and handling than any VW and my car weights alot less than any of them too. I've beaten an 74 El Camino SS in a quarter mile all becuz I weigh alot less.

The only way your little sedan with 110 hp would beat a 1.8 GTI Turbo 180hp golf would be is if the driver was horrible and did not know how to do anything. I currently drive a kia rio with 105 hp, granted my engine is only a 1.5, but I know how much power I do NOT have. Stock 1.8 GTI Turbo's haul ass. You are starting to make me think you are making things up. "TIP"tronic is simply for ease of use, so the driver can concentrate on driving more.
The 2003 Ford Focus Sedan 2.0 is 2564lbs. The 2003 Golf GTI 337 weighs 2857. That's 300lbs, it makes a difference, but not with the enginge difference. The golf has a better weight distribution, as well. Focus has 8 valves, Golf has 20. The focus is nearly a foot longer, which adds to the length of pick up speed.
I'm done with this conversation, there is no reason to continue. You have no facts of which to base your claim. Golfs rawk.

Oh now u gone and done it. You gotta get your facts str8 dude. My car's engine evokes 136hp for starters. But you have to include my modifications (Cold air intake, catback exhaust, and comming soon ram air). I never tested my beast on horsepower but its up there with dem 1.8T. And lets not kid ourselves, tectronic is for ppl that don't know how to drive stick. I taught my father on his Audi A6 with that s**t. I will end this convo, I just had to defend my beast of burden:finger1:
And kudos to you whomever bought the WRX.

#1 - You never said what year you had, so I went with the 2003. The 2003 has 110 hp. 136 HP is dirt, btw. EVEN with your cold air intake, your exhaust, and whatever else you did, I guarantee you a 1.8 could tear your car up.
#2 - If you include your modifications (LOL, You modded a focus? That's hilarious), you have to include another car having modifications. You can't say your modded car beat a stock car and take pride in it, you have to go stock vs stock or mod vs mod.
#3 - It's TIPtronic, not TECtronic. WTF is TECtronic?
You can defend your "beast of burden" all you want, but you aren't getting anywhere.
