Very basic question

Ok, I did a clean install of WG and MajorMUD 1.11i. I opened Nightmare Redux (newest version) and opened the monster editor. I changed the name of 'giant rat' to 'bat' and clicked Save. I closed the monster editor and compiled the update. Loaded the BBS, entered the realm and no bats to be seen in Newhaven, Arena. Giant rats are still spawning. Why didnt this work?

did u select the dat version as 1.11i?

apparently there are more then one giant rat entrances in the newhaven arena, if this is true u might have to rename all the rats to bat or wait for the right number to respawn

nod theres more than one giant rat entry in the database...



change em all.. thats probably your problem

I solved my initial problem. There were no dublicates of giant rats but what I did was just go to the sysop menue and run an update. Once that was completed, the bats were in place of the rats.



I have a second problem now though. I went and changed the name of the cave bear to kobold mugger, gave it an item to drop and whatnot. I also made a brand new monster as a quest NPC. Then I made a new room in Newhaven. I put the quest NPC in the new room. I compiled the update and the room I made is there but the quest NPC isnt in the room and the cave bear which is now supposed to be the kobold mugger, is still the cave bear. I figured that I could just re-run the update and the stuff would be in game but when I try to do that, it tells me wccupda2.dat is missing or invalid or something...



Someone told me I need a cracked DLL to allow edits. Is this true and if so, where do I get one?

On a further note, I just found out that the Horned Demon apparently spawns in the room I made...WTF?
