How about a change?

But from what they said, you wouldn't even know the names of chars on the other team (except everyone will just make a dupe;) so I dunno how that would work. And PvP on the (very few) net muds I have seen was not as fun as in MajorMud. But it'd be fun to try :)
You should really check out the game before you knock it. There are no dupes. You are allowed one character, and this is easily checked by a simple socket command, or if I feel like it, implementing a code that will only allow one person per IP. Most people are honest enough to report dupes if one does slide by. The game is based on pvp and does it work without it. Not being able to see the name of people on other teams makes it all the more interesting. Check out these caps of pvp.

(Notice at the end of this one, *Clan Notify: Jewel just killed Masacre! -- There are ways to see who you killed)

Those are examples of the pvp. It's much more involved than Majormud. Telnet to the game and check it out for a bit.

Re: How about a change?
Nod, pvp in majormud isn't nearly as involved as in internet pvp muds. Internet muds have more hps, more skills and more spells, thus making for more pvp strategies, and longer fights that don't depend on a lucky double/tripple crit.
Re: How about a change?
The cool part of pvp in this game is that pvp is kinda like hunting mobs. You get a party together and roam around near the other alignments city killing everything you see. You can get a large party and even break into the city killing the guards (which are strong as fuck). Makes for some fun nights.

Re: How about a change?
Heh... that kinda sucks... hunting mobs is not pvp. :p It's hunting mobs -- aka pve.
Re: How about a change?
Well, if you have a group of 5 DI members and you walk around hitting scripts, what's the difference? Not turning this into a flame, just putting it into perspective. It's more fun in this game, you get exp/warpoints/killpoints out of it, which can be turned in later for remorts and/or other things.

Re: How about a change?
PvP is just that... Player vs Player.
PvE is what you described. Player vs Environment. It's great to have an alternate experience system, but an npc guard is just that -- an npc guard.

Re: How about a change?
I mean breaking INTO the town, to kill players. You have to get passed the guards first. You don't get Wp or Kp from the guards, I was using that as a reference. The fun isn't in killing the guards, that's the challenge. The fun is after you kill the guards and get to take out all the -players- in and around the city.
