I know you cannot add races and classes without editing the dll to bypass the race/class check. I am experiencing a problem of a different sort. This problem is occuring after a fresh install of version 1.11h or 1.11i, I tried both. What I am doing, using a hex editor (or nightmare), it does not matter, is simply changing an existing class name. There are no other edits on these freshly installed files yet. If I change the class name 'Warrior' to something else, say 'Avenger' or 'Knight', it won't let you into the game. It errors out when you try to enter as follows:
There is a severe problem with the databases on this system.
It is not automatically resolvable.
Please ask your sysop to re-apply the latest database update.
If you take the board back down, hex edit the name back to 'Warrior', the problem goes away and everything is fine. It does not matter if you edit the wccclas2.dat file directly, or apply the wccupda2.dat file, either way, once the class file is updated the game thinks the file is corrupt.
I checked the dll to see if the word 'Warrior' was in there, thinking perhaps it not only checks for class 1 through 15, but also maybe it checks each class name, but nothing.
Am I missing something, or is it not possible to do this?

the dll has to be hexed to allow you to change anything about them

Ok then, that would mean, from a structured programming point of view, that the program has all the values of each race and class hardcoded somewhere right? But then, I couldn't find the ASCII word 'warrior' anywhere that which the dll would be using to compare against the dat file..so I'm confused. Actually, I looked for several patterns of data in the dll in attempts to find where the class is being checked against, with no luck. So for instance, the experience table for a warrior is 100, so shouldn't you be able to search for 100 (64 hex), and if you could find the right one, you could raise or lower the value in both the dll and in the class dat file, hence they would match during the check, or am I totally off on my thinking? Does anyone have these offsets if this is the way it works in 1.11h or 1.11i ?

what are you trying to change "Warrior" to? Did you try just changing one letter or at least keep the same amount of letters? make it like "Abcdefg" and see if it works. maybe it's just checking the length of it.

I'm sorry, I'm not allowed to disclose that information, this is not a bbs warez message board.
