Firstly, I haven't bought a piece of software sense around '95 - and don't plan on starting...
Now, EvanElias is just programs DMud as a hobby. He is NOT a starving programmer. Cracked/Pirated what have you, I would think he would get a feeling of satisfaction knowing people are enjoying his game and hard work! - MajorMUD has been in Metro's hands long enough to where the profits off of it are probably needed! Sure, one can assume they all have day jobs, but im sure the very nice profits they make are figured into there bills. Who is really hurting more here?
One last thing ray. We here at MMB are not about NOT paying big bucks for bbs software. We're for taking an idea, and creating something in our own view we believe will be fun for the users.. Piracy is just a bi-product of this... (at leest, that's what it should be about)

Why would anyone pay for mud? most of my friends that still play never payed ever. even legit muds that charge we never played. Second whats so good about dmud that makes it worth paying? Yes i can respect what you say because your programming it or whatever but really? Can you blame anyone for not wanting to pay?

Actually, I'm a college student, and DoorMUD registration money is honestly the only income I get September thru May.
Right now I make enough from DoorMUD to not need a part-time job during the academic year. But when crack usage is widespread, I don't get any $$$, and then I have to get a part-time job. When that happens (as it did earlier last year!), all that spare time I used to spend on programming, goes towards whatever stupid p/t job I have instead.
So basically, if a lot of sysops use dmud cracks instead of paying for it, the game doesn't get supported anymore b/c I'm forced to get a real job. That's no good for the game's players AND no good for me.

It seems to me that you think all software should be free... in that case there's no point in even TRYING to reason with you... I spend hundreds of hours working on this software, and if people use it (which people do), I need compensation for that time commitment. It's that simple.
