Quote Hey xetox, lets turn that old linux box into a door server, we'll toss 5 or so games onto it and just let it run.. Mez well turn it into a TW's server as well.... (i hate that game)
Linux boxes don't make good door servers...:( I mean, you can run a few doors using DOSEMU but it prevents some doors (including doormud) from running multinode unless you successfully hack dosemu's file sharing routines.
Quote I hate Tradewars Game Server it gives me all kinds of problems... like not being able to get it to connect when running on the same machine as Worldgroup
That's actually a bug in WorldGroup's rlogin module, not a bug in TWGS

Re: Old Linux server [Archive] - ForumsHQ
You want a good fuckin game without scripts... try Mutants. I have been looking for almost a year to find a copy of that game and with no luck. I've been to warez sites and posted shit about it,.... every message besides mine gets 1000 replies and mine gets NONE. What is goin on here people... this game cant be THAT hard to find... considering how old it is... someone who used to run a legit board has to have it somewhere...

this is in the doormud forum, because you should use that old linux server for Synchronet and DOORMUD F00!

It won't connect right with telnet when running on the WG machine either. And yes I was using a different port

As I said earlier, Linux is *not* a good OS to run DoorMUD on... you have to patch Linux's DOS emulator to get DoorMUD (and several other doors) to properly run with multiple users, and that doesn't always work.

Hmm... guess the Telnet server of WorldGroup is buggy then too
And yes, I am indeed 100% sure that the problem is WorldGroup's, NOT TradeWars Game Server's. TWGS receives the connection properly, but WorldGroup doesn't display any text for some reason. The same thing happens if you try running WorldGroup + Synchronet on the same system, or WorldGroup + a telnet MUD, or WorldGroup + any other rlogin server (or apparently telnet server) ....

Re: Old Linux server [Archive] - ForumsHQ
I found a board that had Mutants running a couple months, ago, but went back the other day and it was "Temporarily Unavailable". If anyone wants to try to pry the game out of their HD I'll give ya my password.
