Hex Editting (Using Nightmare & LJN) [Archive] - ForumsHQ

Post by CreedFX »

I'm starting my editting of MajorMud 1.11g, but I'm unable to get the Classes to stick. I'll reroll into Class #16, and when I exit the realm, I come back as Class #14 (Ranger). Could someone help me figure out what's wrong? Also, is there a way to edit the Titles? I'd like to make titles for each class, rather than use titles for say, "Mystic" or.. "Ranger" , etc.

Thank you

I had the same class problem when i started my board, but I dont remember what I did to fix it. Deleted a file I think... for the life of me I cant remember what it is called. Anyone could tell you tho. And as far as titles go, Yes it can be done. I have titles for all my classes made all the way up to lvl 100, and no more of that boring MASTER crap. I couldn't tell you how to do it, but I can point you in the right direction... telnet to sinisterurge.ath.cx and talk to Atma, he did it for me.

If you dont have the patched wccmmud.dll the file wccupda2.dat will have to be deleted everytime you start the bbs. That was the problem i had,it would xref that file as a backup.

Where do I get the patched DLL file? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm new at this. Could someone give me instructions on how to handle the editting? I'm using Nitemare and LJN -- the items are in the database, but the classes won't stick. I'm using version 1.11g (cracked of course) ... If there are other files I need (or whatever else) -- Let me know =)

Thanks

If its already cracked its very simple to get the edits to stick. Go into the worldgroup folder, find the file wccupda2.dat (usually 50-70mb), delete it. And you're done, not to hard? Now your edits will stick for more then a min or two.

Wow, if only it was that easy ! I already deleted the updat2.dat file, and it didn't help either. It's not that my edits were working one minute and not the next, it's that it doesn't work at all. I can't figure out what the issue is.

Sorry, I re-read it and I was think bout how you make changes to races/classes stick, not new ones. *Never really done it myself, but check out the post in the forum called problem with creating more races/classes (http://mmb.forumshq.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=6;t=154). *Mainly the part that was added (between the ---'s). *I've seen it before but can't remeber where.

-ADDED---

Actually now that I think about it my old Mod8 board and my friend's both had new races and classes and we never have a problem with them staying in. Neither of us hand edited a damn thing back then, so I'm thinkin it might be included in some patches and not others. I know I have atleast 2 different ones on my comp. The one we used was called specialmuddll.zip (is a prog called mmuddll.exe, its edits your dll instead of replacing it). If you give me your email or aim I'll send it to you and you can try it.

specialmuddll.zip is just a mud crack I used to get the addons, but I never had a problem with new races and classes sticking, so my guess is that the crack also fixed that. Dunno if it actually fixes the new race/class problem for sure, just an assumption.
