More suggestions... [Archive] - ForumsHQ

Post by Brunt »

Here goes...

1)When editing under the class/race windows..there is an Abilties tab. When you select the abilities, instead of opening the ability window, or memorizing the codes...just have them a drop down menu of all the abilities.

2)With the MAP button..it opens another window, very handy! He should add a few more button within that window. When you on a room, have some like...Add NPC, Add Shop, Add Monster...then just tell is what the # of each is..that way you dont have to go back and forth between room windows. Maybe not even a button, right click and use a drop down menu..that way maybe you dont need to be centered on that one room, it can do all the surrounding rooms as well.

3)Edit the help text blocks. Help (race/class). Its really easy to do it with notepad, but this will help complete the program, and maybe make it even easier. Maybe even have this in a new tab under each race/class. General, Abilities, Help file.

4) ANY way to speed up the update..I know as soon as I get it on my desktop..and off my laptop, it will update a lot faster..but even then, if I am trying to get something to work, and I only change 1 thing to try to get it to work...then have to wait(seems like forever when your waiting) to see that it didn't work hehe

all I can think of right now..more shall come

My WCCUPDA2.DAT is 72MB. Naturally that's gonna take a couple minutes to update. It's not the NMR update time that sucks, it's applying the update while WG is running that takes forever. I agree with you on the help file edits. The only thing I could see being done to make the room/map thing better is the ability to go between the both of them, instead of having to close the map to make changes to the general room window. It's not a big pain, but we can go between the other windows, it seems only obvious to have that ability in the rooms/map windows. The abilities is ok the way it is... but it would be nice to have an "arrange alphabetically" option to find things easier. When you're looking for something you hardly ever use, it would be easy to view everything in alphabetical order. And maybe get a new damn color for those dark blue ones... man I hardly even notice they're there half the time. :cheesy:

Yeah, so far mine is 68 megs...thats alot of text hehe..dunno how big they are default...

anyway...well, is there anyway to just jump to the next record when applying it? instead of going through everyone? Only go through the records we changed...I am not sure if thats possible or not, would it have to go through each record to reach the edits, or can it just jump to each record we changed?

Yeah..be able to go back and forth, or maybe put everything into 1 window? dunno what that would look like...maybe tabs for room desc and the rest on the other tab? shrug

I know I am lazy.....

Also...how about editing the .ini file? again..I know its as easy as opening your notepad..but this will help it become a complete mmud editor.

Maybe have some set stuff in there, like for the sys goto keys and stuff(which I still cant get right)

like whatever the code is..have it

sys_goto_key=

and leave it blank...on the left is the text area, on the right are the menus for keys..you add a key for a sys command, and then to the left, you add what bbs you want it to link with.

btw..what else is the .ini file for??

The dropdown box would have to be huge in order to show the description with it. Many people don't realize (maybe I'll document this better) that you can press + and - in the ability number field to scroll through the abilities.

2)With the MAP button..it opens another window, very handy! He should add a few more button within that window. I do plan on making you be able to edit with the room editor while the map window is open. With the way it is programmed right now I'm not sure of what complications would come of it.

I have no idea what the heck you are talking about here.

This is when the cracked dll comes in handy. Just delete the update file while you doing tests on things. There is no reason to use it when doing testing. It makes the board load up slow and it takes awhile to compile, f all that.

maybe, way down the line

Help text blocks...

When you type Help missionary, it has some text telling about that class...when you add more classes, you have to add a help text block for that class...

in the file

wccmmhlp.msg I believe..I cant remember, MrBlack knows!

I was just thinking, you can add a new menu for the help text blocks, and to make it faster for races/classes, just add it into their menu, under another tab...
