WoW: TW Discussion [Archive] - ForumsHQ

Post by Speed »

There are a few threads here but I can't find one about general discussion. I'm going to head home today in a few hours and reinstall my OS and try to get WoW up and running. I have the box version, so I can install that directly off my CDs. If I have time, I would like to set up an FTP to host the four-cd set (without CD keys, so as far as I'm concerned, this is completely legal?), and the other executable that the other thread mentioned.

How many people have gotten into the realm and played around?

Are there any specific classes/races that we should stay away from? I saw that some pets don't follow you.. does that mean we should stay away from classes that mainly use pets?

How much testing has gone into this version that we are going to be playing on.. like are we some of the first, or has this been a long going thing?

Are bugs fixable? Does the server get updated by an outside source?

I re-installed from discs tonight myself, and downloaded both update files from a site I found just copy/pasting the file name into google. Both appear to have updated without a hitch, but I have yet to download/run the launcher program. I didn't send invis a PM until the middle of the night, so don't have a UN/PW yet anyhow.

I'm curious as well to the type of server we're running. I was talking to a much more tech savvy friend and he was asking me some questions that I could only shrug in response to. I have tonight off (monday), so hope to get into the realm and mess around, though I still haven't decided which faction to play. :(

EDIT:

Duh, forgot to ask: Is this a PvP or PvM server?

I'm still playing on a legit server, though I've been toying with the idea of quitting. Is it for sure that we cannot run 2 copies of the game with differing versions? If so, I'll either cancel my sub or install the 1.8 version on my girl's machine.

That PM was sent at the buttcrack of dawn, and I work 1st shift and havent been home for lunch yet to add you and about 4 other people.

Oh and didnt i state in the instructions for you people to EMAIL THEM TO ME?! While i check my email every morning before work, i dont visit here till i get to work, bleh that creates added wait time. Could have added several people this morning had they emailed me instead.
