Another glorious day in paradise starting out with Microsoft Outlook. I get a call from my boss today stating that when he clicks on outlook it will load as far as the Outlook splash logo and it just hangs and causes the machine to grind to a halt. This has happened once before but he was able to get it working again......slowly. Anyway now it wont load and there putting stress on me to fix it. Any clues why its acting like this?
Not a resource problem and it isnt sucking up CPU cycles either.

what version, 2003?
have the latest windows updates? have the latest office updates?
has anything changed recently, like public folders, or mapped drives, or has he physically deleted any of outlook's files?
check task manager, is it actually OUTLOOK.EXE that is using the CPU cycles?

Thats what i use and would just as soon have them run. But it was installed and they like its functionality so I'm screwed.

Looks like a possible file access problem, corrupted PST, contacts, or archive.
Also might wanna see if the PSTis over 1 GB this can cause probs. is this outlook express? or outlook office?

It's the full Microsoft Office 2000 version. I'll be checking the .PST file hopefully real soon if I can get out of work early, otherwiase it'll be tonight sometime. :nono:

As mentioned previously, after a pst gets so large Outlook may have a hard time populating. There should be an autoarchiving procedure that they should follow. If the pst has been corrupted in anyway Outlook will not load properly. As a side note dear, Dave has a habit of changing shit and then saying he didn't do anything different. If he so much as tried to point to a new contact list or new invalid pst, Outlook will not load. I recommend backing up the pst. I have also heard of this happening after a windows XP pro update.

I'll see what happens, as far as I'm concerned I could care less about the transmittals as long as the contacts list is imported which Karen still has the master list.
