How the HELL do I format a computer with Mindows Me on it?? [Archive] - ForumsHQ

Since MS-DOS don't exist anymore (except for the prompt), how do I format my computer? It's a piece of shit..a big piece of shit..has so much shit wrong with it, and we're tired of it...anyone know???

make a win me boot disk and format from that prompt...i think you make one from the add/remove programs thing in control panel

it wont creat a startup disk, when i try, it says "please insert disk labeled windows millenium edition" blah blah so it can find a file.

Try www.bootdisk.com You can get boot disk(s) for any windows OS there. IF by chance the boot disk isn't created with the file FORMAT.COM on it then just copy it over to the floppy after you make the boot disk.

the bootdisks on bootdisk.com dont work - when invisigod was trying to help me, i tried about 7 of them..that site is useless to me..grin..but I finally got it to format..



I just put in my windows 98/windows 98 startup disk and restarted my pc..downgraded to win 98, and although i got a lot of errors, i was able to restart the pc to dos..from dos, i formatted, then reinstalled XP..worked like a charm=P

actually u could of had the computer boot off the cdrom first, then when u get the option if you wanted to boot off the hard drive or cd, u chose cd. Then you chose the option to boot into dos normally and ud get a dos prompt..



Then youd type out



c:/windows/command





then format c:/s at the prompt

dark - restarting in dos then just typing format c: is much easier..besides, /s doesnt work anymore..windows told me itself ;)



You don't understand how fucked up the PC was..what I did was about the only option I had.
