Installing VBPortal on Vbulletin 3.0.0 [Archive] - ForumsHQ

Post by iNViSiGOD »

Ahoy tech savvies. Lunar Dynamics recently fell prey to database corruption in MySQL, so in light of all that i decided to go with VBulletin instead because it has a good reputation for being rock solid and i decided to try installing VPortalas well because i really like having a Portal on my forums software.

The thing is the installer instructions are very vague at best and im having a bit of a tough time finding any real walk-thru's on teh net. So i figured someone out there has to have some knowledge of VBulletin, mainly our staff here on ForumsHQ im sure. Currently running VBulletin3.0.0, according to the walk-thru i do have its supposed to be compatible with my version, even tho the installer says its for 2.2.x

Bottem line is, if i had a decent install guide, and not this chopped crap I might be able to get it installed. So if anyone has any ideas, please help out.

never done it on 3.x

What's the problem? You never stated if you got errors....

As far as I know, it's more or less an addon; i.e. unzip, run some sql queries and it's done. Don't have to really hack vB code.

It is an addition. I didnt get any errors, the instructions are very vague and are no help at all. It almost looks like VBulletin w/ portal integrated, not actually a MOD.

AdmiralAcid is working on it VIA Radmin for me as i type this so maybe he can get it squared away.

Well to no avail. Couldnt get the thing to install.

It's actually quite a shame seeing as how my iPB setup was much easier to get to work (with more coding) whereas this is supposed to be simpler to install according to VBulletin and it turned into a big damn headache.

On a note: I do have to thank AdmiralAcid for his hard work, he really tried his best to help out and i really do appreciate it. Thanks AA/KiX! :yeah:

you search vbulletin.org?

and if you've tried both of those and still had problems... well maybe you should give up installing vB addons :p
