do condoms really prevent pregnancy
my girl and i started having sex. worried about the whole getting pregnant thing. is it possible to get pregnant using condoms? anyone know about percent? what about doubling?

This a joke? I'll assume not, at the risk of looking stupid.
Condoms do stop you getting pregnant. You need to use them right - if there's a 'teat' pinch the end before putting it on, otherwise you might end up with an airbubble which makes it more likely to split.
Don't use condoms from pub machines, unless you recognise the brands - they're often 'not certified for use as a barrier protective' (what the hell else you're going to do with it, I don't know). Use one with spermicide for extra protection.
Condoms, used correctly, have about a 99-99.99% chance of working correctly. That means no babies, and no diseases like HIV. If one should split, get the morning after pill the next day, but this shouldn't happen.

find out the sexual history of your partner as well, condoms work extremely well in preventing pregnancy and catching the nasties. however there are a few that you can contract even with the use of a rubber. Genital warts, herpes, to name a few-> not life threatening, but you dont want them do you?

also dont double up on the condoms, they're more likely to break that way, and also only use water bases lubes i.e. no vaseline or petroleum jelly.

Have her get on the pill. Condoms do prevent pregnency. But there is always a slim chance of defective condoms, and also of comdon breakage. Used properly They are like 99.7% or so effective.

OOOOOOOOOOH, but be careful about using 'em with spermicide like ClaireJ suggests... I found out the HARD way that I was allergic to it! Let's just say, the girl I used the condom w/ spermicide with had to swear to me she hadn't just given me some deadly disease! Ha! I literally had to hold my shorts away from my body while I drove around! I guess you should "test" spermicide the way they say to test carpet cleaner in a small area first!! Ha!

Really? and i thought the millions of us just used them for the fun of it! 99.7% accurate. But even if the girl is on the pill, use them anyway if you don't know where she's been or what she's got! That way you won't wake up with an unscratchable itch in any nasty places!

abstaining from sex all together is the best way to be sure you dont get her pregnant, or catch something nasty. But Sex is like a drug, one you try it, your addicted, and quitting cold turkey is harder than quitting smoking.

Also DO NOT carry condoms in your wallet, the heat from your body, will cause the latex to break down. You can purchase small carrying cases for condoms in good sex shops or sometimes a pharmacy.
Condoms purchased from vending machines, or novelty condoms are usually NOT FDA approved, most often are not even latex. Hell you better off to wrap it in Saran wrap, than to use a novelty condom.

FYI Condoms are only 99% effective if used properly... and the pill is only 90% effective if teken properly. The percentage drops to nearly 20% if you forget to take the pill for ONE DAY... which means its back to condom use anyways, futhermore.. the pill fucks up a womans body like you wouldn't believe!! The percentage of women that are on the pill use them to regulate their menstration cycle and not as a birth control method (believe it or not) its around 70%.
The other thing that is startling from the use of orthotricyclyn (This is the #1 prescribed birth control medication) is after a womans body becomes used to the medication, her labido drops like a rock and some serious depression can occur. These are only some of the nasty side effects of the drug.
It does however decrease the risk of cervical cancer, but increases the risk of ovarian & breast cancer...
And I would NEVER trust the birth control patch... thats like the Depo-Provera shot... you have NO idea when it wears off.

I have a friend of mine that she can only use the shot because she is allergic to the pill.
I use to know the name of the shit she was given, but I forget now. It's not provera, it something else here in Canada. Anyway, if I can find out, where can I get some solid info on it, and what the side fx are?
