the only chars i have given away are people who i personally have SPOKEN with to give away their characters
one instance i gave a char to someone who said they wanted it.. they logged on once and hung up almost immediately and were gone for several weeks.. so i gave it to someone else, what "hard work" had they put into it?

Ahhh that explains everything, a sysop that is worried more about his board, than his users. That explains why so many people quit.
Sean word of friendly advice for you, treat your users as you would like to be treated, and you wont have people quitting. Giving away people accounts after not playing for a few days is lame. Most boards delete accounts after about 90 days inactivity.
And "posting" the accounts on here probably isn't going to get you a whole lot of new business, with people knowning that if they dont play everyday, that you'll just give away thier hard work.

They have ALL of their original members still playinbg or some of their original members? I had capped ALL (IN my previous post) for a reason because you had made such a big deal of the board losing players.
All boards lose players. And most times when a board loses a player, the dupe is gone also. Double whammy for the board.
If some boards still do have ALL of their original members still playing some many years later (per your words) then I would love to know their addy's. They would be a friendly bunch of people. :)
Also, if your statement is correct, just how large of a membership do they have? five original members, ten original members, etc??? Lot depends on the board and what it is set up for. I belong to a private board (We all know one another in real life-it's invitation only) that has been going for over ten years (with resets periodically) and there are only about 15 of us that are original members. Original meaning we all started up within a couple of days of the board being open.
As I stated above, I feel all boards lose members, whether they be original members or ones that came along later and if you can disprove this by giving hard FACTS then by all means do.
