Ok I seem to be utterly stupid. I can not find why my rlogin does not work. I have it set up on WG's side as open and able to recieve/connect and on synchronet's side to recieve on port 513. I can not find anywhere on WG to set it to that port but i thought that port was the default. I set up a module to Rlogin to the port number. It errors when I add a " :portnumber " which i assumed it would do. however I can not find anywhere that I could actually edit the port out number for Rlogin.
The rlogin, when it shows that it is trying to connect to an IP address times out after the preset 90 sec.
Synchronet is up and running and I can logon via telnet. all games working etc..
Any ideas?
I already looked at the sit "http://doormud.com/wg/syncsub.htm"
any suggestions would be helpfull.

I do not believe you can make worldgroup change port with r-login. what i did was make a module and had it telnet to sycro ip and port 22...and from sycronet they can access games and the tradewars game server thru r-login.

Does this telnet option allow my users not to have to relogin in as a new user? will it keep there user name/passwords from the redirecting worldgoup? assuming i set up synchronet correctly.

Re: Synchronet and rlogin port from WG?
no unfortunatly they will have to log on yet again
Re: Synchronet and rlogin port from WG?
with rlogin, they don't need to enter name/pw, it's a smooth connection.
with telnet, they would have to re-enter their info and maintain a separate account.

Re: Synchronet and rlogin port from WG?
what even is synchronet?
Re: Synchronet and rlogin port from WG?
Synchronet = the best BBS software ever written.
Free, open source, multi-platform (win, linux, freeBSD, openBSD, os/2, dos), built-in servers for telnet + rlogin + ftp + internet mail + IRC + newsgroups + soon a web server, super-customizeably (using JavaScript!), and has DoorMUD pre-installed ;)
A decent number of WorldGroup sysops (around 25 by last count?) use Synchronet as a sub-bbs or door server, to allow use of "normal" BBS stuff on Worldgroup, like normal doorgames, FidoNet, etc.

Re: Synchronet and rlogin port from WG?
um, what are you trying to "solve"?
the web host for synchro.net just seems to be done at the moment. but you can always download the latest synchronet via zmodem telnet download off of the support bbs, telnet://bbs.synchro.net

Re: Synchronet and rlogin port from WG?
I have it Rloging to a SyncroNet server based off of those instructions from http://doormud.com/wg/doorlink.htm, It works fine, only problem i have is that i had not figured out how to set the rlogin to go to a specific IP. I've since then learned how by putting the ip adress of the computer in the command string when configuring the menu item as an rlogin module. but for some reason it logs people in as sysop but i have everything but the game menu disabled on syncronet, so i figure i have to configure the syncronet box with a certain login, have not had more than 1 person log in at a time, but i have it set for 20 connections. But i can connect to it fine using syncronet as a door server.
