Anti-virus software [Archive] - ForumsHQ
What is your personal experiences has been (or is) the best software for finding possible viruses on my PC and preventing them as well. Free would be nice if there are any out there worth a damn. Thanks in advance.

agreed... i use AVG also...
Re: Anti-virus software [Archive] - ForumsHQ
I just removed Norton 2K3 from a friends computer and ran AVG, AVG found 177 infected files. No offence Kai, but norton Sucks the big one.
goto www.grisoft.com and download the free version and get rid of the spyware called norton.
Ever looked at how deep norton burrows into windows, it might as well be spyware. Besides once you get rid of the POS, you'll wonder where all those new resources came from :-p

norton is only a resource hog because it has that "deleted file recovery" thing going on ... i just turn it off. it stores all the files you delete (a certain amount of them) just incase you need to restore them. after i install XP and norton the first two things I do is turn off system restore for XP and the deleted files protection from norton. i figure if anything gets messed up i'll just reformat and reinstall like i do once every few months anyway.

That's why I use AVG too, although it didn't catch the Blaster worm. The free version also let about 15 other virii through, but 7.0 caught them.
