Relorian, i've noticed that you're well suited to state opinion, but tend to shy away from the truth. And the truth is that without the war in Iraq, you would NOT be seeing college kids in Iran rioting in the streets, trying to bring change to their own troubled country. A stablized mideast is beneficial to everyone in the world, including America. As for Americans giving contracts to American companies and sub contractors to help in the effort to rebuild Iraq, I don't see what your problem is. Why not stimulate the American economy while bringing democracy to Iraq? Would you rather see the American government contract the jobs out to France??

He still OWNS a major portion of STOCK. so whats good for them, is GREAT for him. And YES this war WAS about OIL. you think that destablizing a region further brings any kind of democracy? No. All it brings is more in-region fighting. Iran was set up by america to REVOLT. we have been slowly destablizing that region for a long time. It started when we helped the king of Saudi Arabia regain his throne in exchange for OIL. American Agents in Iran have been trying to destabelize the government there for years. Its taken this long to get anything. Why? Because the people there think if they Revolt, america will help them... Kinda like how we helped Osama Bin Laden in the 1980's Revolt against the soviet union. You seem to think that American Companys should be doing what IRAQI people should be. Why not stimulate their economy? If they have any chance of getting their country back, we need to let them have an economy.... not give every little thing to US companys that donated to the Bush Campaign.

And a STABLE middle East will not exsist till we undo what we did in 1948.... and thats to tell Isreal to shut the fuck up, stop stealing land, and just STOP attacking anyone who rightfuly has a claim to the land they occupy. But then you probily didnt know about that eather.... we've been destablizing the middle east for at least the past 50 years for american gains....

America the Greedy.

I'm just curious. How is us rebuilding their country for oil, different from buying the oil.. Either way we are gettign the oil, but you make it sound like we're over there stealing all the oil in iraq. If that was the case i would be paying 99 cents a gallon like 2 years ago.

well yeah of course. they want the sanctions lifted so they can sell the oil and get money for iraq. why would they ask for the sanctions to be lifted if they're just gonna pump out the oil and smuggle it to america anyway?

Call it anything we want, but we are punping iraqi oil, and we are shipping it to america. Plain and simple.

how do you know that we aren't pumping the oil and SELLING it to america?

Incase your wondering, i read more newspapers than i watch TV news. TV news doesnt run alot of the shit i care about, nor do they cover it in depth....

why must you assume that i don't do research? i listen to CNN daily and read many internet sites, plus a subscription to time. i rarely ever watch local news channels because it usually isn't news.

find me one article that says we're pumping oil to america for nothing in exchange for iraq.

When you proclaim Martial law, the occupying force by law owns all assets of the area under martial law. There for you dont have to pay for what you already own. Why do you think were planning on being there for 5 - 10 years? in that time we can tap enough oil to keep people nice and rich in the upper 1% and keep everyone else driving.

Oil Prices are STILL up from the South American strike. Give it a few months and then Opec will drop the price per barrel.... then the prices will go down... unless you happen to live where i live, in California... then the prices will probily GO way up.

i'm can't believe you honestly believe that. maybe we're there for 5-10 years because YOU CAN'T DESTROY A COUNTRY'S GOVERNEMNT AND PUT A NEW ONE IN PLACE THE NEXT DAY.

It sure as hell did in Afghanistan? or did we happen to forget that country.... oh wait. Current Bush Policy is to say Afghan-a-Who? Afghan-a-What?. We put a new government in there in less than 3 weeks, then pulled out and fucked them all over. What a nice nation we are. If you have something we want, we'll stay for YEARS, if not, we'll stay for a few weeks then pull out like a cheap whore.

The war in Iraq is subsequently bringing democracy to Iran. College students in Tehran have seen coalition troops on their border battling Saddam's Ba'ath party, and now they're empowered to rebel against the mullahs that have persecuted them for 20+ years.

You're equating rebellious college students with guaranteed eventual democracy? Laughable. Things don't work like that in real life. Ever heard of the Tiananmen Square massacre in China? College students do not have the power to overthrow forces of a totalitarian government.

Everyone knows that next to N. Korea, Iran is the most dangerous enemy America has, and we all can benefit from change being embraced there, a change that started with Iraq, and like a domino effect, has swept into Iran.

Stop with this "everyone knows" line of argument right now. Most dangerous enemy? Do you seriously think that Iran and North Korea (or pre-war Iraq for that matter) really pose *ANY* realistic major threat to the United States? Do you really believe those countries would initiate an unprovoked attack on us, guaranteeing their instant destruction by our military which is many, many times superior in size and technology?

I think not. There is no need to attack these countries to guarantee our safety. The concept of a "pre-emptive war" is utterly nonsensical. Preventing war by causing it? Who the hell thought THAT was a good idea?

And as for your martial law argument. Democratization takes time. Look at how long it took for us to rebuild Germany and Japan, post world war II.

Gulf War II is not World War II or anything even remotely close. Any attempt at such a comparison is utterly illogical.

the war was NOT about oil. It was about democratizing a troubled region in the world.

There are many, many troubled regions of the world that are in need of democracy. Why choose Iraq out of all these regions? What's special about it? The oil maybe? Bush's desire for revenge re: his father's failed attempts, perhaps? All of the above?

Bush claimed Iraq had WMD... none have been found.

Bush claimed Iraq was in league with Osama binLaden... proven to be totally untrue.

If you look at some public polls, a majority of the American people incorrectly now believe that some of the 9/11 hijackers were Iraqi. In reality, none of them were. So why do people think this? Bush's ridiculous propoganda, that's why. The man is a liar, plain and simple.

Perhaps not, but they have the power to create one...Mao Tse Tung gained power by inciting the youth of China into the red movement, thus creating a communist China.

No point, just interesting factoids
