if you take the cdrom off of the secondary ide, put the second hard drive on the secondary ide, put the xp drive on the primary, boot into xp and see if you can see the other hd.

people, if you're going to post some advice, read the rest of the thread first. if you are too lazy to read the rest of the thread, then don't post. this is the second time in this very thread someone posted what I already suggested (take a look at a few posts back that I made).

what if you switch the channels too? try putting the secon hard drive on like the secondary ide channel. i'm assuming you have a cd-rom drive too, so put it on the second channel as a slave.

Could do what I did with my sisters computer.

I wanted to do a complete format of her drive but she wanted me to save all her stupid mp3's..

So I took her hard drive out and put it in my computer, copied all of the files onto my drive, cleaned her drive and then recopied the mp3's back onto it.

Ive also had a friend come over with his laptop and he copied important files off my computer by way of a serial connection

Have you tried putting the second hard drive on the secondary ide, putting the xp drive on the main ide, and booting into XP to see if you can see the other hard drive???

sorry syntax... let me reiterate...

I have seen hard drives that had this kind of mad problem... and you have tried putting the small hd on the secondary ide with the cdrom.. Take the cdrom off of the secondary ide and then try with one hard drive on each channel. please excuse me for repeating myself again, but the entire point of my suggestion was to isolate the problem drive on its own channel.
