Re: Hard Drive Question [Archive] - ForumsHQ
You have a cd burner? You should be able to take the files for the boot disk and make a bootable cd using nero.

If this is still true then I don't see how it could have anything to do with the compaq drive.
this is a good point. if it is still trying to boot off of a different non-booting drive then it's gotta be either the bios or jumpers. did you try setting them as cable select with them hooked up on the IDE cable like i said earlier? what if you switch the channels too? try putting the secon hard drive on like the secondary ide channel. i'm assuming you have a cd-rom drive too, so put it on the second channel as a slave.

IT = Information Technology
IT is not hardware
IT kinda is a leader of the other people(like programmers)
IT comes up with goals and stuff like that ;)

Re: Hard Drive Question [Archive] - ForumsHQ
I work in the IT department for a school district. I do all sorts of repairs, both hardware and software, and I'm very good at both. I know the "I" in IT stands for information, but I don't think it's refering to software. If it is, it's not set in stone. IT to most people is just a general term for a technology person/industry/business/job/etc.

I don't think there is an IT division at every company, and then a "computer hardware" division. The IT guys handle software, hardware, network, everything dealing with computers.

IT = information technology
so back to relorian's prob:
its either: (jumpers(on hard diskS)/bios/cables) IMO
ever think of deleteing the OS off of the win98 drive? heh
i've had these kinda problems before, but easily fixable!

Re: Hard Drive Question [Archive] - ForumsHQ
Information Technology
(IT) Applied computer systems - both
hardware and software, and often including networking
and telecommunications, usually in the context of a business
or other enterprise. Often the name of the part of an
enterprise that deals with all things electronic.
The term "computer science" is usually reserved for the more
theoretical, academic aspects of computing, while the vaguer
terms "information systems" (IS) or "information services" may
include more of the human activities and non-computerised
business processes like 'knowledge management'. Others say
that IT includes computer science.
