I got my ass whacked when I was bad. My mom broke a wooden spoon over my backside. My dad always used his hand (I was a pretty bad kid from time to time) but overall it worked and kids need a good beatin nowadays but parents are so afraid to raise a hand because of laws and shit. I say fuck it, beat the kid if he or she is bad but explain to them why they are being beaten and dont beat the shit out of them but a few good whacks usualy sets people straight.

On this, you'll get no argument from me.

Government intrusion into the family is one of the major decays of our society. All it takes is media attention to a specific facet of an otherwise accepted practice to incite the populace to inact legislation. Ya can't even spank your kids anymore without facing the possiblity of them being taken away at the mere hint of abuse. Our society as well as our justice and political systems are all driven by media influence, and if the media can cause the horrors of the few to appear to be the horrors of us all, so much the better as it forces actions to be taken, not to mention raise ratings in addition to creating paranoia. That doesnt mean that those actions are always correct or in proportion to the problem.



Hence, why its become so easy to pass the buck of personal responsibility. Children, and young adults, are not stupid, they can see and understand what happens around them as easily as any adult and the examples that they are provided with amount to, what was best said by Michael Douglas "Greed.....is GOOD!"

To say none of us are affected by the commercialism and rampant self-indulgence that surrounds us is absurd. Our morals and ethics are called into play everyday and when measured against what the media and our leaders give us by example, is lacking in any actual substance of anything beyond getting ahead of the other guy, and damn the torpedoes to do it!

Now don't get me wrong, if you mercilessly beat your children, you need to be thrown in the clink. However, simple disciplining of them should not be left up to broad interpretations by liberals who cry wolf or conservatives who care nothing about the problem. We need some people in office that care about the job they're supposed to be doing, not those that look to further their own bank accounts. [/rant]

When I was growing up, the fact that I had done something so wrong to cause my parents to hit me hurt me a lot more than the physical pain.
