problems installing dialsoft fuglobals on wg3.2 on xp

Post by the crazy animal »

ok so I started installing the rest of the wg addons I like to use on to my computer.

system fresh install of wg3.20

os: win xp

As I install fuglobals it gets to about 99% then halts with the following error:

insfin: usedll error on wgsiutl.dll (error-1)

Then the install fails after stating that a non-recoverable error happened. Nothing seems to be wrong with wg though; it both boots and runs fine so far.

anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks,

install it all in win2k combatibility mode...

right click the setup.exe file... and click the compatibility tab...

I tried compatibility mode with a few diffrent settings didn't help any.

I just got it to work though it was really an odd problem.

It ended up being that I had to do the install from

C:\Program Files\Galacticomm to C:\Program Files\Galacticomm\Worldgroup Server

when I started I was trying to install it from

C:\Program Files\Galacticomm\Worldgroup Server to C:\Program Files\Galacticomm

As it wouldn't let me install to the same folder I was launching the set up from and wouldn't let me install it from out side of the Galacticomm folder. I also copied the wgsiutl.dll to the Galacticomm folder but I don't think that helped any.

Thanks for the quick reply,

I think your problem wasn't where you were trying to install it from, it was where you were trying to install it to. You always have to install your stuff into your Worldgroup Server directory. What you should do from now on with all of your stuff is install from a Temp directory. I made a c:\temp that I do all of my installs from, and I erase the contents when I'm done. It makes things so much less cluttered.

I think your right but it was very strange because it wouldn't let me install it from the folder that it was stored in. Then I tried moving the install files to a desktop temp folder and it still wouldn't let me do it. So then I tried installing it from wg's root folder and started getting the error stating can't install to the same place I had the files. finally when I tried C:\Program Files\Galacticomm\t it worked.
