Hello, I come from www.overclockers.com forums.
I've been a member over there for about 1.5 years, and don't intend to leave. Overclocking is only dangerous when you don't know what you're doing. As you can see at the bottom of my sig, I tried watercooling, yea I learnt my lesson, better CHECK EVERYTHING to see its in 150% good condition before applying, I lost a video card I got for free and a PSU I got like 4 years ago... Now I use high end air cooling which is sufficient enough. I've overclocked much more than the 2 PCs I got in the sig and not even one of those "broke" or anything. My first PC was bought in august last year, yea its almost 1.5 years old and with a new CPU (which a person I know on my F@H team was kind enough of sending me just for the price of shipment) was a nice little upgrade, and with a little overclocking I beat crap out of most Willamate based Pentium 4 systems. And I've been overclocking for most of the time that I have this machine, I don't see it dieing anytime soon.
Also to the person w/ the P4 2.53 and radeon 9700... Yes your score IS impressive, but nothing unusual. If you have a nice RAM and nice AMD CPU in an OK motherboard, like a KT333, I've seen such scores not once. the CPU doesn't even have to be overclocked. Just up the FSB speed and lower multiplier, as currect AthlonXPs are unlocked.
Overclocking has a huge impact on performance if done properly. There are XP1800+ (1.53GHz) which go for like $70 but reach speeds of 2GHz (2400+) or more, speeds of CPU which goes for around $190!!! so saving like 70% on CPU cost is pretty good deal, don't you think? Also its great fun and expirience.
I'm completely for overclocking, but first you have to know what you're doing, learn the basics, if you do, you won't screw anything up.

Only things that get upgraded on mine is the cpu, memory and sometimes the motherboard when it cant handle the cpu ive just bought. When you know how to do it by yourself, its alot cheaper than buying a new system

If I had the monitor/keyboard/mouse/speakers and some other stuff...and didn't have to buy EVERYTHING....then I would have gotten better stuff...but at the time...most of this stuff was really nice.
I plan on giving this system to my girlfriend and building a new box, with 8x AGP, and agp/pci lock(nforce2 chipset), and the new SATA..and yes, AMD POWERED MUAHAHA

Maybe I think its pointless to go out and buy something that JUST came out. Look at all the video games that come out.
$50 here or $60 there...In a few months, they will be $35-45 so
why not wait a few months when the prices drop.

Thats why when I overclocked my 1600+ to a 1.7ghz, I got higher benchmarks then a intel pent 2.0ghz. AMD 2100+ runs at 1.73ghz.
If I spent $2k now on an AMD system, yes, I bet it would score higher then yours.
Again...you score 15,000 default because you have 8X AGP.
I am saying I paid $2000 8 MONTHS AGO.
If you are trying to compare your Intel $2000 computer to my $2000 EIGHT MONTH OLD COMPUTER powered by AMD, then thats just sad...I wont tell anyone :)
chuckle, ya, I bought mine 5 months ago.. so shrug.. and I know the amd vs intel argument, I also have an athlon 2000xp .. the intel outruns it... and if you do a price comparison ie 2400xp vs 2.4ghz there's only like a 2 dolla difference.. and I dun have agp8x nor would that impact my 3dmark score since 3dmark doesnt even use all of agp4x.. ur attempt to sound smart has failed.. plz delete.. oh and for overclocking a p4 2.0a c1 stepping will kill any amd cpu ..
