Btrieve Insert Error [Archive] - ForumsHQ

Post by Satan »

For some reason, after I created a new class, and a new title text block, compiled the files and loaded the board I got the most retarded Btrieve Insert Error 5 On File .\WCCTEXT2.DAT

Any suggestions on how to remedy this error? The board will only run for about 5 minutes before the error comes up, but I'm not sure if it's just the fact that I've got a lvl 15 abused hero with the title Dingbat. (only a test mind you).

You sure it's a error 5?

Because Btrieve Error 5 for Worldgroup is:

The record has a key field containing a duplicate key value.

The MicroKernel cannot add or update a record because the record has a key field that contains a duplicate key value for an index that does not allow duplicate values.

and this is from my dev kit docs.

I can really only think of a couple things that could have went wrong. For one, I'm guessing the update file tried to call a record that it couldn't find and then when it tried to insert it the thing said it was already there. I prolly would have tried deleting that textblock you made for the new class and then firstly assigning it an existing one, seeing if that worked, and then make a new one again.
