Printing over the Internet [Archive] - ForumsHQ

My remote user is on a windows XP pro box. He SSH's with Putty.exe into our linux box here at work. This linux box has lots of printers connected to it, but not the printer at his location.



Does anyone know how to setup these systems so he can print from our linux host system, over the net into his xp printer?



We do have 1 NetGear VPN Firewall here at work. I've also got RPM (a remote print manager).

you can set it up via samba so that he can see the printer natively in windows; otherwise i dunno

ditch linux and get a windows 2000/2003 terminal server... the client software is already built into windows xp... complete w/ local drive and local printer mapping!:P

yeah, i can use terminal service to get him into work and onto a windows box. But our host system is linux. He'll still have to telnet/ssh in to start the Progress application. The only printers the Progress app can print to is printers that are local to it...



I just remoted in and my printers did follow me into work. but for the machine i connected to, no other work's networked computers can see it.
