i think most people would rather seldom constructive posting over flame fests. hopefully the knowledge of knowing you can post something without being made fun of will encourage more people to post. the fact that you can make that comment and i can't say you're wrong proves that this is a problem that needs to be addressed.



As I said in my first post, The flame area should be left, it's a place where people vent.. and as I said in the first post, it should be a limited thing, and not one of the areas of the message board that shows up in the new post search and whatnot. The whole forum has basically turned into a festival of people acting like Dragondawn and Shaddow.



Anyway, this is just my opinion.. much as I respect you Syntax, you won't sway me. If you take away all of the flaming completely, people will just be stupid. If you contain it to a small area and truly enforce the rules for flaming, things like dragondawns banning never would have happened.

Im in agreement with Syntax in the fact that this place basically has turned into nothing sort of a flame board. Contained in the Hall of Flames, is fine. But like when Shaddow asked a question about fixing the keyrings and postde a cap where he made one small mistake certain users started calling him a n00b and other things. Bringing to light what Syntax is saying, people can hardly post w/o some negative airhead having to throw in his 2 cents and then when people like myself come along and try and cleanup the threads we get called "Power Trippers" and forum nazi's.



Bottem line that has brought us MOD's to is this: All of you who do nothing but flame and put people down, you are the reasons these rules are being put into place. If you could have kept it all on an even keel things may have been different, but you go on your jubilent little childish flame rants in every post.



So now, we MOD's are forced to try and bring some sense of order back to the forums. Try and remember to THINK before you ACT, and things like this can be avoided in the future.



Feel free to comment on what you think (WITHIN REASON, BLATENT FLAMING IN HERE WILL BE DELETED IMMEDIATLY!) and any suggestions.

Ill second that. MMB/ForumsHQ was at one time a very beneficial Forum and a good one to be part of. Many of the old users have left tho because the maturity level of the posters on here has droped by, oh say, about 75%.





That's just ridiculous. Several years ago there were just more people who gave a shit about MajorMUD. Nowadays it's a dying game and I'd say that's your major reason for a decline in traffic on MMB. Not many people play this game anymore as compared to a even a few years back. If you institute MORE rules here aside from everyone bitching at someone for little shit like "Not following the bbs post template to the fucking letter", my guess is that more people will leave. It's time to grow a skin, people.

i'm confused shaddow. you voted yes to the poll, but then quoted me explaining why we are and will be different than metro's forums only to say that we will be a copy of metro's forums? what is your actual opinion?

I wouldn't delete the hall of flamers.. it's kind of a sacred bastion of bullshit. I would however, perhaps limit the amount of posts a user can mak there a day, and have those threads not actually show up in the new thread list so that people actually have to go look for them to read that.

i like your idea of not having the flame forum threads show up in the new/daily searches. so i took the liberty of doing that, regardless of the outcome of the poll.
