Electrical question [Archive] - ForumsHQ

Post by Shaddow »

I have a 89 Chevy Sprint 5spd, and occationally when I'm sitting at a stop light, clutch depressed the car will just all of a sudden just die. (no I aint stalling it) a total shut down of all power. it's really freakin wierd, the battery is new. Only thing I haven't replaced yet is the plug wires, the plugs, and the distributor cap.

ok list of new shit:

Altenator.

Starter (have new, haven't pulled old one yet tho)

fan belt....

Ok I know I'm gonna get asked this, why did I buy a Sprint, well gas in Canada is hovering around $4 p/gallon and a sprint gets 65/70 mpg.

I fill the tank every couple of weeks

figured it out, it wasn't electrical, it was a leaking vacume hose off the carb.

You should sell the car somewhere neat cause it's currently getting 20+ mpg over what it's supposed to!

grin, I dunno why I said somewhere neat. Anywhere. I was just noting the fact that every other 89 sprint gets less than 50mpg, especially after being 15 years old.

I was going from what I was told (from my Father), but after figuring out my tank size (which is 40 liters) to how many KM's I can go on a tank 650 Kilometers (406 miles) p/tank. My father figured out the milage to approximately 55 to 60 mpg.

So being that gas sits around 89.9 to 95.9c p/liter (there is roughly 4 liters to a gallon).
