Right now, this has nothing to do with groupthink. I haven't seen anyone jump onto of anyone else's thoughts and ride them. Seems like everyone in this thread is voicing their own opinions. Just because those opinions are the same does make it mob mentality. And unless I'm horribly mistaken, flaming is more about speaking down to someone with anything to back it up. This would just be criticizing.

The impact I caused was with ljnedit (i gained access to the beta board), like i said metro lost 20grand for a new coder, and fired someone for allowing their server to be vulnerable... that's when i got a cease and desist order (to me it was kindof surprising that to them, it was that big of a deal) 20grand just to fix a problem is kindof big...



another thing that changed, was how edited bbs's happened, instead of the infamous wccupda2.dat being removed, and causing regen problems, from ljnedit wccupda2.dat compilation was inspired, which solved a lot of regen problems and such..



So what was the cease and desist for? Stopping you from editting? I'm confused, but I'd like to know the whole story. PM me with it if it's not "forum material"... Sounds like Metro overreacted...

Well, I don't know how you swung that. Math maybe, but how the hell you could've gotten at least a 640 on verbal is beyond me.... As for SAT scores, you'll learn quickly they don't mean anything. Let's think, I know 2 kids that scored over 1500 on theirs who had troubles - one in jail, the other in rehab. I also know someone that scored a 1280 who graduated summa cum laude from Princeton. You'll learn, they same way we all did, that riding your own waves through life won't get you anywhere. The only thing that 1440 does is get your foot in the door. Now what? Without the ability to deal with people, no one is going to think about hiring you. And if they do, you'll sit in a cube like everyone else and hack away at code. The reign of the aloof computer geek making bank or cruising through jobs is over. You're going to have to learn to treat people with the same common courtesies you'd want to be treated with.



And that 1440 you're flaunting - that would be the pretension I mentioned earlier.



And by the way, keep bragging about your youth. We all did. Except we have the uncanny ability to look back and see where you are in life and what roads lie in front of you. The only problem is you won't listen - much like we didn't. But you'll learn. After all, we all did. And if you're going to Pitt - good for you. But why not Carnegie Mellon? Or MIT? Or Cal Tech? Remember, Erek, that while you may be "above" some people, you're below a lot of people, too.
