I guess the BILLIONS of people that have VHS movies that were copied from the video store then shared and passed around to friends were bad.

Companies need a clue.. They need to know that piracy is always ALWAYS going to be there but people will always ALWAYS be buyin the videos or dvds. I buy dvds that are worth it but alot of movies now a days suck so why spend 20 bucks or 5 bucks at the rental shop for a POS movie.

i think the opposite is true actually. more and more people aren't buying albums. personally, i don't think it's main reason is because of piracy tho. i think it's because artists have grown acustom to putting 2 good songs and 10 half-assed songs on an album and expecting everyone to buy it anyway. now people just get those songs off the net since they're the most popular songs and are all over. the only reason this didn't happen before with tapes (as much) was because tapes were inconvienient (having to fast forward and such). but now that people can create mix cds with all their one-hit-wonders on it, why buy the albums?



as for movies, maybe if they didn't pay actors so much money and ticket prices weren't almost $10/movie people would be more inclined to go.

true that, the last cd I actually purchased was the Doors Greatest hits. I bought it cause it was full of good music.



As for the movies you are right, 8.50 (or more) to get into a movie unless its 11am in the morning. popcorn and drinks and crap 12 bucks. 21 dollars per person at the movies is stupid. What makes it worse is that now theatres are starting to add commercials to movies so NOW you pay to watch commercials as well!! What bullshit. I pay 30 bucks a month for cable at home I can watch commercials on TV at home. Driving to the movies and paying 21 bucks to watcha flick and see commecials are asinine.

I think it's kinda a bit of both. People don't like to pay for things. We are prime examples of that. The issue is what moral bending people will allow themselves to do before they say this is wrong. Most of us will admit that MUD and a few other things we play with on a regular basis aren't something to get in a fuss over if someone wishes to take advantage of it. Especially with what they charge for the many many many mistakes they leave open never to fix.



CD's are no different. I download most of my music because as syntax said, there are only one or two songs that I want and the rest is complete shit. However, I still do, on occasion, buy some cd's or movies that I like. If the artist does a good job then why not pay them for it? But most times this isn't the case.



And if these bastards were smart, they would stop with the lawsuit shit and put up official sites where you could download the movies or cds free, then get $$ from advertising on that site from other chump companies. That way they get both the money from the sales of hard copies, as well as the advertising cash they get from the other products.

fuck that $21 dollars at the movies shit, i drive 20 mins, be in north philly and buy the bootlegs for $5-$10 a piece. it's just as good, all ya gotta do is turn all the lights off and hope that no1 steps in front of the guys movie camera. i own badboys 2, matrix 2, x-men 2, bruce almighty, and pleasure island 12 for $5 bucks a piece.. beat that

My theory is simple: Ill download a new movie, watch it and if i find its worthwhile ill go to the movies and watch it or maybe even buy the DVD if i want a better quality version of the movie. Same with music,ill download a few songs to see if its worth it and if so go and buy the cd.

I don't buy anything I don't have to. Screw that. If I can download it, I'm going to.



My theory: Whether or not I download the CD/DVD is irrelivant, since I would NOT have purchased it, even if I didn't have internet or bootlegs. I never did before, never will. I'm pretty much promoting the CD/DVD, cause someone might be chillin and see it, and then want to buy it. But, I don't buy movies, cds, or games. I spend too much money on weed.
