Mixed drinks still have liquor in them, straight liquor is just a plain old shot or down from the bottle, whatever. :)

I brew my own along with some friends of mine. We take our own stock when we go out to SCA events, it's always a big hit, have won a few awards. Our best is the Pale Ale - smooth, goes down like water, very lite taste, but 16% alcohol - and our Nut Brown Ale - cultured from an unnamed beer's yeast, semi-strong nutty taste, little thicker than the Pale Ale, 20% alcohol. And the grand prize goes to our Imperial Stout - 22% alcohol by volume, thick and rich, has won 3 awards at 3 separate events. This weekend we had an event in the desert, and 3 of our brews won in the same category, 1st 2nd and 3rd. I'm not much for sweet liquor, but I've had the cheescake before, and it is quite good. But yes, I drink, and often.

You are my new best friend. Do you know any good resources for home brewing? (You'd better :)) My roommate and I have wanted to home brew for awhile now (most likely a porter and/or stout), but we haven't been able to find a good site or company to deal with -- it was always in the style of weblogs of jerkasses that we really don't feel safe trusting...

We're all about the technical side of everything...so it's not just about making beer -- it's about making really good beer that we've given tons of thought and love to.

Help?

Apathy, I've got all my info packed away, kinda homeless right now. Lemme dig through my boxes and get with my fellow brewers and see what secrets we want to give up.. :P I'm sure we can help you out - as far as recipes and shit go, you'll be on your own, but supplies and such, no problem.

Alrighty - here's where I get my stuff.. everything u need for home brewing. Friend of mine just bought a grain brewing kit, so all he needs is a sack of barley and he can make beer whenever he runs low. :P http://www.morebeer.com

take 1 bottle of pepsi

take 1 glass 1/2 full of vodka

drink a gulp of vodka followed immediately by a few gulps of pepsi...

10 mins later, your 1/2 glass is empty and your 20 oz is 1/2 gone

repeat if desired

always works for me :)
