On a related note, it looks like the courts have blocked that video game law that barred minors from buying violent video games in California.

Quote:

A federal judge has blocked a California law that would have made it illegal to sell or rent violent video games to minors, saying he doubted whether such sales could be banned even if the games were proved to cause violent behavior among children.

I don't see why so many people oppose this. These games were not MADE, nor supposively INTENDED for minors- so why the opposition?

The law is simply keeping games out of the hands of the people who it was not made nor intended for. Thats like complaining that children can't buy porno. Besides, this kind of separation can really lead to an adult entertainment in Video and Computer Games- could movies like Scarface and their ilk be made if children were free to veiw it? People would freak out if children had access to such violent movies- and so they act accordingly with this.

This kind of legilature is the kyrtonite to people like Jack Thompson, because people are less likely to back them on censorship if the only people the games are intended for are the people who are actually getting it.
